My husband pretends to be Father Christmas and phones the children.Father Christmas sees everything,so he knows all sorts of things he wouldn't if he wasn't real.We watch lots of Christmas films, some of which have explanations for the fireplace, for the fact it's all done in one night, and they all create a picture to reinforce the fantasy. We do cookies and milk Christmas Eve for Santa, plus carrot and water for the reindeer. We have to make sure they're drunk and eaten, and Santa leaves a thankyou note.We also do the letter to Santa, there's an address that send a reply to each child by name, and there's a website you can get a reply from.
Above all we are all "shocked " if anyone would suggest Santa wasn't real, cos if he heard them say that they might not get any presents at all(which is why Grandma doesn't get many). It's too big a risk so it's not usually mentioned again.
They know that the Santa you see in a shop might not be real, cos he can't be everywhere and sometimes his friends help him out.
We do Father Christmas big time.Magic is very important in our family
