Hi i am new here and need some advice if poss.
My daughter got meningitis at the age of 9months, the only side effects (thankfully)is that she has a motor and speech delay she is 3yrs and 5mths and has just started walking unaided and her speech is coming on. She is 100% coherent which makes her frastruated sometimes. Her b-day is in Aug so she is due to go to a main stream school in september. How do i go about potty training! she sits on the potty now and again i know i haven't been very consistent but i am all fired up to do it properly now!

Does she tell you when she has done a poo/wee? I think that was the first step to potty training for me - them actually realising they are wet. The next step was for them to tell me they needed to go before they did it and then I could stick them on the potty. Some people recognised signs/tells that there child needs to go to the loo - like pulling at themselves or sitting in a corner or making a certain face and just put them on the potty anyway.

Hi Sarah
Welcome to pp.
Potty training like boo said is,if you get the signs its tends to be easier to get them on the potty.Does she tell you when she is wet or has a dirty nappy.
I tryed training pants for riley but they confused him so i tryed him in pants insead and he got the hang of eventually.A couple of times i would let him run around with no bottoms on(naked waist down)and put the potty near by,not saying you should(can get messy)but these things take time.
I let riley choose his pants and he was proud to wear them, you could try something like that.

Good luck with it hun, theres a section on potty training on the site.
xx
