Just had a friend fly over with one of those float swimming costumes for Leyla in tow.. I'm very exciting about giving it a try. Leyla loves the pool and finds her ring too restrictive now.

I will let you all know how it goes xx

Quick update for anyone interested. I have been swimming with Leyla twice now in her new float swimsuit and it is great. The first time she was just getting used to the water hitting her chin and today (second time) I've been teaching her to kick her legs. I have just been holding her hands to keep her the right way up.

Highly recommended xx

Thats brill Gemma, glad it has worked for you both.

Mel i was hoping riley was also be a keen swimmer at 3 as i was but now the price of the pool has shot up it would cost 9.50 for us for no longer than an hr which i dont feel is worth it tbh.

Im gonna check out which pools are taking the free swim vouchers as im collecting them.

No we dont, our local pool has just had about a 1.5mill re-vamp so the price went up but the age goes 3 and under, when i argued riley was 3 hey said its from the date they turned 3,my thinking is his 3 for a whole yr so he should still get in free but no,they do a swim for a pound but you have to be claiming benefit like jsa or income support. Its so unfair on him as he loves swimming and so do i.

I could take him to the fitness pool but theres nothing for him to play with as its classed as a teaching pool,he likes the play pool as it has floats and water jets. But its still not long enought for a good swim time.

The bugger being that they no longer do early morning swimming when i would taje him as he goes nusery in the afternoon, the only do 1-3am or 4-6pm but thats no good to us as we couldnt get there.

We don't have a local pool so I only go swimming when I am staying at my parents! I have to pay for Bronwyn to go swimming and once Smurfy arrives I won't be able to go without another adult as you need an adult for for every child under the age of 4!

It is terrible how parents can't be trusted to look after thier own children if the are out numbered.. what happens to families with 4 children? it takes 4 adults to go on a family outing to the pool? No wonder the uk is called ''a nanny state"

Bearing in mind that i will have a 15 month old and a newborn I don't think I would want to take them both swimming by myself, I would be too concerned about safety and I am usually really relaxed about doing stuff. Water is just too dangerous to take risks with small babies!

I was trying to explain to a friend who has a 2 year old and is trying for another baby why I wouldn;t take 2 babies swimming and she couldn't see my point!!!

I am pretty chilled about most things, but not water!!!!!

i always take a friend with me if i am taking more than one child so we have a child each to watch christopher cries and clings to you in the water ,mollie wants to go of and do her own thing when we have been there 5 mins and abbie is still getting used to the water and stephen is independent knows what he can and is not allowed to do
