Hi ladies,

An update for you. I went and bought a Clearblue Digital Test as you all said and managed to hold out til this morning to do it and horray... it's positive!! I'm over the moon! Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed that all goes to plan and go from there. Can anyone tell me... When should I contact the doctor? I was thinking I should probably wait a couple of weeks as I think I'm only about 4 1/2 weeks?

Congratulations!!!!!!
I think most surgeries have a 'booking in' appointment at around 8-9 weeks, but as all surgeries do different things it may be best to phone and tell them how many weeks you are and they can advise you when to book your appointment.
Its very exciting for you . They will also be able to tell you when you are likely to be due, if you know your dates.
I wish you and your little bump well!!!

Take care x lucy x

Yay!
Congratulations, i bet you are so excited!
As Lucy has said give the doctors a ring and tell them how far gone you think you are and they will advice when to see the doctor.

Keep us posted and i hope you feel ok xx

Congratulations!!

You must be so pleased.

As far as appointments go, I rang my doctors surgery told them I had a postive result on a test and asked when can I have an appointment with the midwife. They will tell you how many weeks they like you to be and how soon in advance the appointment can be made. I didn't see the doctor with my second pregnancy as when I went first time all he said was congratulations, go to reception and arrange to see the midwife!! I felt like it was wasting an appointment so didn't bother second time.

Take care, Zoe xx

Congratulations!!!

I am really pleased for you!!! As everyone else has said its not the Doc that you need but an appointment with the midwife. Our docs take your word that the test has come up positive! The tests they do are the same as a bought test anyway!!!

I bet you can't stop smiling!!!

Congratulations! You can go and speak to your doctor at any time, some like to retest, others take your word for it, but you should be given your form to claim free prescriptions / NHS dental care etc as long as you know the date of your last period to calculate your due date. They can then also book you in at whichever hospital you want and arrange dates for scans etc, some places get really busy so the sooner you are in the system the better. Each NHS trust runs differently, but you can pick up leaflets on what to eat and what not to etc and other advice if you do go and see someone. Enjoy being pregnant and if you need any advice, come and ask us and you'll get honest yet sympathetic replies!

Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for all your lovely messages. I'm going to ring the doctors tomorrow as that is when the doctor that I have been seeing is in. Our surgery do telephone appointments so I can just speak to her via the phone. I'm still on cloud 9 at the moment and already planning in my head!!!

Hi everyone. I just thought I'd let you all know as you were so supporting with my news that I sadly miscarried on Tuesday. I have had it confirmed at the hospital today but I knew it was happening. I'm a bit of a blubbering wreck at the moment but hopefully will feel better soon.

Hello

I am so so sorry you're going through this, it's so sad.
Don't force yourself to cope and get back to normal too soon you need to grieve, are your work being understanding? You should take some time off to recover, as well as emotionally your body has been through a lot.
I had a miscarriage nearly 4 years ago and it was the hardest thing i've ever been through but time passes and good things will happen for you. I understand how devasated you are feeling right now so please pm me if you need someone to talk to.

Look after yourself and your partner, keep in touch x x x
