I have been posting on the ttc forum for a few weeks now but i seem to have been trying for a lot longer than everyone else as we have been trying for a year and I have just been for my first hospital appointment. We got referred as my 21 day bloods were low and my o/h has an underactive thyroid. The Thyroid specialist says that shouldnt lower his sperm count if the thyroid medication is working but we are waiting for a sperm test in dec. Doctor says that I am to have two scans and then once the tests are back they can try me on clomid. Its reasuring to know that it is being taken out of my hands.
Its all very scary and i'm trying to keep PMA, got CBFM and going to start taking BBT (and wear orange pants), mainly things brought up from the other site. I should really have started looking on BE a long time ago but I really felt alone, like I couldnt speak to anyone. I now feel there is a lot i could have been doing, who knows if it would have made a difference or not.
Its good picking up tips on the other forum but whilst a lot of people have problems there are so many who get BFP straight away and I cant believe ive been trying for so long and bd'ing on the right days (i was using iv sticks) and still nothing, I dont feel any resentment but I thought i'd get pg straight away and I really feel like there is something wrong with me. I'm now on day 11 of a 30 day cycle and I really really hope I ovulate this month and get my BFP and then ill have been worried over nothing. I was once so excited about having a baby and now I feel like an infertility statistic - 2nd stage infertility and all that. Sorry to be all doom and gloom just wanted to talk, you know

Hey and welcome to the Long-term TTC page. You are very welcome here and feel free to ask any questions u may have. Nothing is to 'silly'. Everyone is very supportive and helpful. Also don't feel bad about not wanting to be on the ttc page anymore, we have all been through it and although all the girls are lovely it is so hard seeing all the BFP's from the newbies. It is so gr8 on this page when u see a BFP as it gives u hope to carry on.
Hope u get ur BFP really soon.
    Take Care

Hi slow, thanks for your welcome message hun,
Its not that I dont want to post on the ttc site, they are really lovely and there is so much optomism which keeps me perky and gives me hope and makes me feel like i'm not alone but sometimes I do feel like ive been trying longer than everyone else, then I look at this site and the posts are from people who have been trying for years and it brings me back to reality that I havent really been trying that long! Its confusing being in the middle.
It would help me to come onto this site from time to time, if no one minds, to ask questions as now im entering the hospital phase i'm sure ill have lots.
Good luck to everyone who is trying and lots ofbaby dust for you
    xx

Hiya - just wanted to say it's amazing how little fluctuations in hormone levels can affect your fertilty so dramatically. Ive beed diagnosed with an overactive pituitary gland so instead of thyroxine it prolactin that Im producing too much of - so Ive been put on tablets for this! Originally my 21 day bloods were low and they showed I didnt ovulate so they thought I would need clomid - but then they found oiut my gland is overactive...

I hope you hubby's meds are working and I hope the tips you picked up off ttc work for you and it doesnt take much longer for you to get your BFP.

I tend to flit between here and ttc as we've been ttc for 21 months now but Ive only been ovulating for 5 months so I'm not sure where I belong - so it depends whats on my mind as to where I visit!

I hope I get to see your BFP soon - and were here in the meantime

    Me too -
Pull up a chair - optimism is here too but its just below the surface and comes in stages.
Huge enthusiasm when you get gynae appointments/ treatment or even if you start IVF.
I think you feel you are back on the starting line again with a CHANCE. Just a small drop of hope and I am full of PMA again. After all this time maybe a BFP is even sweeter who knows.

That said you (and your orange pants he he) are very welcome and we wish you masses of luck

    Hi Georgie,

Welcome to LTTTC... and in the nicest possible way we hope you don't have to hang around with us for long.

The topics in here don't move along as quick or as many postings but you will always get an answer to a question or support when you are feeling down or up!

Masses of luck and keep us updated on your progress.

Just wanted to say hello and echo what everyone else has said about it being really lovely and supportive on here.

You say your worried about not making changes quick enough but I think you'll find we're all like that - it's only when things don't happen that we start looking at things we can actively do to improve our chances. You'll probably find that a lot of people on ttc forum who get quick BFPs have made no changes to their lifestyle and have just been lucky. I've been following new tips every month in the hope that it'll make a difference, and only learned last month that peas have contraceptive qualities and that using tampons can be detrimental when ttc which was a real shocker!! We all learn something new everyday.

Hope you get over to the pregnancy forum soon (along with all the rest of us preferably).

Thanks for the support girls, i'm sitting here in my orange knickers feeling like i've just had a hug!
I was having a good day this morning as excited as hopefully will ovulate in a few days and then I came over all teary as there was a photo on the ttc forum of a lady's BFP, I was so pleased for her and she was so happy and I thought I want to see that/feel like that. Dont get me wrong I didnt feel any resentment towards her having one at all, it was so lovely I cant imagine how her and her o/h are feeling, I just really want to feel like that you know! God i feel like an idiot, I was fine a moment ago and now i'm welling up.
Anyway some clients are taking us out for lunch to say thank you so a bit of spag bog should cheer me up.
WEEGIE- i read about peas recently but didnt know that tampons could make a difference, hows that then?
    Thanks girls xx

Yeah I have a local greengrocer that has the most gorgeous pea and ham soup and I was eating that almost daily for a while - was a shocker when I found out they might as well have been sold with free condoms!!

Georgie - I can't remember the exact thing about tampons but I read on here that they can cause reverse flow (or something like that) which can be bad when ttc. I'm sure someone can give a much better explanation than that. Sorry.

I'm still in shock about PEAS - damn it, I suppose it was a good job i used up our freezer supply on my dodgy knee last night then

Ooo yes you are talking about "retrograde bleeding" I am still unconvinced that tampons are the cause as this is also very much an endometriosis problem (as that is what I have). My consultant certainly hasn't mentioned this to be a cause or that I should stop using them as it wouldn't make a difference.

The books I have read have also suggested they could not help but there is no direct evidence to suggest.

So many women out there have got pregnant and still used them I can't believe that it would be that much of a problem - I guess I could say then same about eating peas too!!

I have done so many things over the last 4 years to "help" giving up things, changing my diet, exercise (appropriate for trying) no alcohol or caffiene and I am still not pregnant... I know what is wrong (the Endo) and I am still sensible but I have gone beyond not enjoying my life by cutting out things I enjoy as it still hasn't worked anyway  So I enjoy the occasionaly glass of wine, my cup of tea, carried on running and eating the things I want to eat as it makes me happy and I think being happy is more improtant in a successful pregnancy.

Sorry that turned into a bit of a rant, I didn't mean it too

    J

Peas... seriously? That's a new one!!

Georgie - I understand where you are coming from. I am going to be spending more time on the LT TTC forum from now on. I have been posting/lurking on the TTC forum for a while now.... we have been TTC for 8/9 months, which is not long in the grand scheme of things, but as we are in our mid 30s, we feel we can't hang around.

I got my period on Wednesday and hit it me so, so hard - seeing all those BFPs on the TTC forum was tough (although obviously I was pleased for the ladies... just v jealous).

We are seeing our doctor next week to get everything moving. I'm most worried that he/she won't take us seriously.
