Just been diagnosed with PCOS and now waiting to see fertility expert but not going to be able to do that untl OH has sperm analysed, phoned up for an appointment today and he can't drop his sample in til 31st March, which is so long away! We then have to wait a week for results and then the doctor will refer us to fertility specialist (another 12 week wait!)
This has really disheartened me so wondered if anyone has paid to see the consultant privately to jump the queue? If so how much was it and how quickly were you seen?

Hi WBAM, sorry to hear about yoour diagnosis. It is so frustrating waiting for NHS appts. I was lucky and got an appt with fertility clinic very quickly, howver I went privately for one of the investigations I needed to speed the process. I would say a consultation would cost around ??100-150. If you contact the fertility clinic I am sure they will be MORE than happy to give you a price list. And you are likely to get a appt very quickly....maybe somewhere between 1 week-1 month. It's amzing how fast they can act if you throw a little money in their direction!! Good luck x

Hi there. Sorry to g/c but I was in a similar position in the summer. We saw our consultant on 1st July and he referred me for an HSG and hubby for an SA. We were advised to make our follow up appt straight away - which we did and were given a date 5 months later in November! No way were we gonna wait that long! I looked into paying for the HSG privately and then rang the consultant's secretary and explained that I obviously didn't want to pay out for the procedure and then STILL have to wait. I think an earlier app with him was about 120 quid but, as it happens, I hit lucky, bored her with my life story and she was lovely and gave us an appt on the 17th Aug! Always worth a try - if you don't ask, you don't get! Good luck chick x
