    Hi
I have been testing my ovulation first thing in the morning... this is the first month I have tried using the ovulation tests. I thought I would have ovulated by now... however the tests have been all negative. I test first thing in the morning? Is this wrong? Should I be testing later on in the day? Also I am on clomid... would this give negative ov tests at all?
    Thank you for your help...
    Rxx

    Hi

I thought you weren't meant to test on OV strip with FMU as this effects the result but you do need to not have drank anything for a good few hours before hand. I always do mine in the evening (just cheapies from the internet!)

    What CD are you on?

Just found this on a website as was confused my self:

Unlike pregnancy tests, morning (first morning urine) is not the best time to collect samples for ovulation tests, as LH is synthesized in your body early in the morning and will not appear in your urine until the afternoon. The ideal time to test is in the afternoon, around 2pm, though testing may safely take place from 10am to early evening.

Should I take the test the same time every day?

Yes, be sure to test at the same time each day. Also, reduce your liquid intake around 2 hours before testing as a diluted liquid sample can prevent or hinder LH detection.

Can clomid interfere with test results or cause false positives?

Clomid may cause false positives if you test for ovulation too early in your cycle. Please consult with your doctor about how to use OPKs in conjunction with Clomid - or other fertility and prescription drugs.

The website I got this from is:

You need to do it in the afternoon and you are not meant to drink anything or go to the loo for 4 hours before taking the test. I was making this mistake too until someone corrected me then the next day I had my lunch at 1 had a drink and went to the loo then tested when I got home at 5.30 and there it was. The reason is because the hormone it detects is released when you are sleeping but takes all day to work its way into your urine. Good luck xx

There is no way I couldn't drink or go to the toilet for 4 hours!
    Sorry, random comment!
I'm on clomid, and have bought a CBFM, so does this mean the CBFM won't work?

I think CBFM uses early morning urine as it measure the LH (hormones ov tests see) and oestrogen

Ov sticks alone say you should test in the afternoon I used to do them around 3pm...

Warren Re using CBFM I think you might want to wait to start until after the clomid as you will get more oestrogen and loads of highs. I think you are trying to train it to your 'normal cycle'. You could try ordinary OPK which just measure the LH to see when you are ovulating?

I am keeping a CBFM on ice as it were until we are finished with our IVF as the medications I am taking will affect it
