Hi ladies, we have been TTC for four years now, I am 37 and have a 19 year old a 7 and 8 year old, we decided 4 years ago that we would like one last one. What would be the next step in getting help, I presume we would have to go private because of my age and family situation. I thought we had conceived ourselves this month but sadly not. We either get help or give up, it is clear we are not in control of this situation. Any advice would be great! Thanks ladies.

    Hey Lottieloulaa
Have you been to your doctors for blood tests or anything yet?x
When myself and partner finaly went to the docs after a year of trying they made me do day 21 blood tests for atleast 7 months, every time it showed i wasnt ovulating and havent been since i had my son nearly 5 years ago, my next step was a laperoscopy to see if there was any other issues (found my left tube blocked) and partner has low sperm count.
The lap was done in june, they went back to blood tests every month since until.last week they finaly put me on clomid! I was so relieved im due to start it on saturday, this answer may not help you at all as situation is slightly different so sorry if it doesnt x
Hope you get the help you need xx

Thanks for taking the time to reply kellx, it is helpful to know what to expect, I did have my bloods done about a year ago, they all came back normal and I haven't been back since, the doctor wasn't that helpful to be honest.

Do you have to be prescribed clomid or can you just buy it?

Did you have to go privately or were you doctors happy to help?

    Thanks! X

No problem at all, always nice to know your not alone x
In all honesty i knew i wasnt ovulating since i had my son as i never had a period for 2years after i had him but the doctors wouldnt listen and made me go through all these tests and surgerys to be told after nearly 5 years i was right lol!

One of the consultants i spoke to wouldnt give me.it as it increases the chance of ectopic and given i only have one working tube he didnt want to chance it however the other consultant i seen on monday was brilliant! I was in and out his room with the prescription within 5mins he was great!
Id honestly say if u feel its best for you push for it, if not they may bypass you but it depends on your doctor x

Im sure it has to be prescribed but you could look it up on the net x

Oh my goodness you have been through a lot already, I don't know what is worse no periods or horrific periods like I have, I bleed a lot and even bleed when I ovulate although it clearly doesn't make me fertile still, I don't know which is worse.

I think it does depend on who you see, my doctors are not great, I will make another appointment though.

Good luck with the clomid, let us know how you are doing. X
