    I'm after some advice, ideas...

Amber has been going to bed at 6.30pm for the past 5 weeks. She has a bath, massage and bottle and then goes in her cotbed. She has been sucking her thumb to self-soothe for the past 4 weeks and usually falls asleep during her bottle. I then wind her and put her in her cot, where she will suck her thumb if she wakes up at all and go back to sleep. For the past week she has slept from 7pm to 6am - GREAT

    However,

the past two nights (since the clocks went forward), she has not fallen asleep with her bottle and when I have put her in her cot, she has screamed and screamed. Last night it took 2 hours from her bath until she finally went to sleep (after I gave her a breastfeed to calm her down) and tonight it took 1.5 hours, with the same pattern. Has anyone got any ideas?

I'm worried because I'm working Saturday and Sunday nights and dh can't breastfeed her if she gets distressed......

    Help! :\?

its prob just one of those things and after a couple of days she will go back to normal! not much help i know but she may just be feeling clingy or like you mentioned, lighter nights or time change may have unsettled her. just go with it and try not to stress too much unless it goes on and on. she prob wouldnt play up for dh cos she knows he CANT breastfeed her!
has anything else been noticeable? like feeding less in day, less daytime sleep, start of a cold, poss tummy ache etc?

She has just started a cold (the fourth in her short life), but it's never affected her sleep before... good idea though - maybe it's that. I will get dh to put her to bed on Wednesday, see if that helps (he's out tomorrow) x

Ruby's routine has too gone out of the window. We were following advice from my yoga teacher and it was working really well, until Sunday. She's now all over the place and her newborn tantrums have re-appeared. My yoga teacher did warn me that this could happen as the clocks changing has an affect on many babies. xxxx

Amber sounds so similar to Abby. We usually have a good bedtime routine (same thing - bath, massage, bottle, sleep) but every now and again it goes completely out of the window. I have resorted to breast a couple of times to settle her but, like you, don't want her to depend on it to settle. :\(

I have found that it usually has no particular link with anything, although it is more likely to happen if we've got guests or wanted a special evening (eg when we deliberately chilled a bottle of champagne and defrosted BM for feeding). I think they just know!!! :x

Don't worry too much. Your DH will cope and as Naomi says Amber knows he can't feed her!

    Good luck,
    H xx

Thanks everyone, I'm pleased to report that she went down tonight with no problems! I think I was expecting too much - i.e. for the rest of her life she would go to sleep with no issues, no matter what - LOL
