i decided to try dd and omg she loved it.was going to try in the morning but ended up trying this afternoon. she was due a feed at 5.15pm sbut at 4.15 she was getting grouchy as she was getting hungry so id decided to give it a go, as she wasnt absolutley ravenous. i get everything ready, used 2 spoonfuls of rice (1 spoon didnt look very much). put her in the high chair and gave it a go. well she wasnt too sure to start with and made a face but her tongue started gooing mad, so gave her a little more which stayed in her mouth. as soon as she saw the spoon she opened her mouth and moved her head forward to get at it quicker. she ate the whole lot, the only time she cried was when we ran out. her daddy had a go at feeding her too but she shouted at him because he was going to slow :lol:she then had her bottle and took just short of her usual 4oz. she was so much happier after a feed and fell straight to sleep for a nap.she wasnt sick or in pain, she just loved it. my little girl is growing upthanks for all your support.

she's had lots of different tastes already, as she was on ranitadine (sp) in scbu which was like eating a pack of polos, she had infacol which is orange, paracetamol which is strawberry, her vitamins which smell vile so must taste shocking, sucrose in scbu when they take blood as the sugar is a natural pain killer. so after all these flavours its no wonder she doesnt like the milk, have you tasted it?she shouts at her dad all the time, he came home from work and was talking to her, went to hang is coat up and she shouted at him to come back and pick her up. when im winding her and her dad isnt talking to her she shouts at him. she's a little minx

OMG . She sounds so much like Skye it's surreal!!She shouts and yells at us all the time, she's quite a fiesty one too! I also bit the bullet and gave her some baby rice yesterday and today, and she was more than happy with it all, kept gurgling away and seemed more satisfied too. These premmies seem to know what they want and they want it now eh!!Iz & Skye x

well gave her breakfast this morning and she wolfed it down. made up 3 baby spoonfuls and she eat the whole lot. she was so excited her little arms and legs were going mad in the high chair. everytime she saw the spoon coming she smiled the biggest gummy smiles and opened her mouth really wide. last night after having food at teatime then her usual bottle she slept for 11hours, she had her 'supper' bottle at 8.30 and i woke her for breakfast before she was starving at 7.30, cant believe it!posy glad skye liked her rice. she is much more settled after a feed now. i agree, being prem hasnt made a jot of difference for them, they know exactly what they want.

Well; done. I'm so glad it's working for you. Sounds like she has been ready for rice for quite a while.

she is 14+weeks and ther last time she was weighed she was 9lb 12 so must be 10lb ish by now. she has been showing signs since she was around 8 weeks but i knew that was way too young and have battled to hold her off until now.i use cow and gate, hope that helps jess.we have told anyone that we have given her some food so that we can avoid the 'oh shes too young/too little/are you sure as she was prem?'we ahvent even told our parents. my sister in law had twin boys nearly a year ago 4 weeks early and when i mentioned that i was going to start weaning at 4 months i had ' thats really young!' i said that i had spoken to the consultant in the hospital when we took her for her check where he said to treat her as a 'normal' baby and wean between 4-6 months. her reply was 'well they told me to wait until 6 months at least'.so not mentioning anything else again until someone asks.

isnt it terrible how judgemental people are! we had friends of my oh over for dinner the other night and the woman (who is a bit of a ditz) was trying to tell me what was wrong with josh and saying oh when he does that it means this... they dont have kids and she had no idea what she was talking about but i was really annoyed! oh just laughed when she left at how stupid she was but hes very good friends with the guy so i guess you just have to put up with your friends partners sometimes aye, oh well.i think we know our babies well enough (clearly better than anyone else!) to know whats best for them and she sounds like shes loving the food i might have to try him soon but i will try and wait til hes at least 4 mths i think, but were off to the doc today so will say what they say.
