Lily poos have (obviously) been very different since I started weaning her. When she goes (about once a day) she strains so hard she goes purple and the result is like a small, proper adult's poo - soft but solid. I offer her water with her meal and have tried fresh orange in her purees but it doesn't seen to be doing much.

Is this constipation, or just what her poos are going to be like from now on? She doesn't seem to be in any discomfort, but it's obviously taking a lot of effort! What are your babies' like?

Sounds exactly like what we're getting here most of the time. I assume it's normal, it's just they can't control their bowels in the same way adults can. so it seems like more effort for them. I think with constapation after all the heaving nothing would come out!

Skye's are exactly the same!! Much more solid than when on just milk, and far more green/brown too, lovely!
They do seem to take a lot more effort to push out too, and the "purple" face sounds very familiar PTB! x

Thanks everyone! Seems Lily is normal then.

She did FOUR poos whilst I gave her nappy off time today, without going purple, too! She'd been grumpy all week and already seems happier, so hopefully her little system is coping with it all better now.
