Hello girlies and babies!!
Sorry I havent been on, I've been in hospital since little Grant's arrival

I thought I would share my story with you but please beware...its quite horriffic....well...I thought so anyway!!
At a minute past midnight on Xmas morning, my waters broke with a huge gush and when I ran to the toilet, I had a show and everything all at the same time. I completley panicked and called my OH who came home from work early and the period pains began.
I waited untill OH came in and called the midwife unit who told me to have a bath and take some paracetamol. What I completley forgot about was that beforehand, hot baths brought on my periods...turns out it brings on contractions too!!
I decided I didnt like the water and stood up only to pass a few fresh blood clots so therefore another call to the unit meant they asked us to come in just to be safe.
The roads were terribly icy and the snow was so hard you were skating to the car, when we were going round roundabouts the car was turning left right left to turn round a corner and I was petrified!!!!
When we got there, I was examined at only being one cm, given some dihidrocodine and sent home to rest.
So we get home and head to bed. I woke up around 4pm and pottered about frightened to stick the turkey in the over just incase!! Hunger got the better of me though and I spent the full night in the kitchen making a huge Xmas dinner for OH and me. So from 5om till around9 .30pm I was on my feet.
We also couldnt sleep much so sat up watching movies and I went to bed at 2am whilst OH stayed up a while longer.
At 5am, OH came into the bed and tried to settle. As soon as he did, my contractions worsened and again, I phoned the midwife unit to be told to take a bath. Now dont ask me why...but I agreed to this...even though wht happened before! It had the exact same effect and I phoned to tell them I'd be in since I couldn't handle the pain anymore so off we went! (poor OH)
So were back in the unit and im given Dihydrocodine again and left to labour. About half an hour later, I asked for gas and air only to be told that I was 2cm and therefore not allowed it

The midwife gave me a sweep and offered to set up the pool (again do NOT ask me why I agreed to get into bloody water) and it just made things ten times worse very quickly..not only was I now cold after coming out the bath, my PJs were wet and I was having to dry off between contractions....this is the point that my OH stepped in and decided to talk to me realistically about my 'options' and we decided I wouldnt be a martyr and take Morphine.
The morphine didnt exactly make me the ravenous idiot I thought it would. It made me very sleepy but I felt every single contraction and for that reason and that reason alone, I seen it as pointless (plus the jab for it was kinda sore
