Thomas has a dummy only for bed, but over the last few days he's been waking once at 2.30ish and again this morning at 4am he goes back as soon as he has his dummy back and then doesn't wake til gone 6-6.30ish, have tried control crying but it breaks my heart to hear him cry so i normally cave in, i know i'm probably making a rod for my own back. He's not so bad when I take his dummy out just after he's fallen asleep. Any suggestions ladies? x

Hi, I know you have found CC hard in the past but how long ago did you try it? It may be that now Thomas is a bit older, he will be easier to settle? I only suggest this as I have recently resorted to CC with Hugo for night wakings and it's gone better than expected. I did CC for giving up his dummy as well at 6 months and this time around its been much much easier and quicker

    Good luck

Thank you for your replies, it was a while back when i tried the cc, so i'll give it another go and try to hold my nerve and not cave in so quickly! Thomas was like heidi at first and wasn't really that bothered but now he won't go to sleep without it. x

sellotape it in his mouth lol

CC worked great for me with jayden. i knew he was clean and fed so he was only crying for the sake of it so i let him get on with it. Try not to cave, he will tire himself out sooner or later, he will learn that he needs to sleep and then you will be there when he wakes

could you attach the dummy to his sleeping bag with a dummy clip or short ribbon? (obviously not long enough to be a tangling worry?) so that he knows where to find it if it falls out? my LO has a dummy for daytime naps but sucks his thumb at night as we ditched to dummy when he was 3 months old as he had stopped feeding at night and was waking up to be re-plugged-soon put a stop to that i was wearing out the carpet running back and forwards!
