    Hi

Eddison is now on the bottle for all day feeds. I'm finding that he's not wanting bottle as often as boob but I'm worried that he's not taking enough. I've listed an average day below, please tell me what you think and make any suggestions. Oh, should let you know Eddison is less than 15lbs so wont take as many ozs as average sized 6mth old.

Breakfast: I make up 7oz bottle but use 2.5oz in porridge, and he drinks the other 4.5oz.
Mid-morn: 6oz bottle, this is still hit-and-miss but seems to be improving as he gets more used to bottle/formula. He usually takes 3-5.5oz
Lunch: 1 jar or homemade equivilant + water
    Mid-afternoon: 6oz bottle, again hit-and-miss.
Tea: 1 jar or homemade + 0.5 jar pudding or Petit Filous + water
    Bed: 7oz bottle
    Nighttime: Up to 2 BFs.

I've found that if I give milk & solids together he wont drink milk cos he knows solids are coming and he prefers them.
    What do you think?

From what you say I worked out he takes an average of 24oz a day. this is the same as what lizzie has just lizzie has it like this:

7:30- soya yogurt and 8oz milk

    12:30-lunch veg and fruit

    3:30- 8oz bottle

    5:30- dinner veg and fruit

    8:30- 8oz bottle

Lizzie was 16lb 9oz a few weeks ago and is not 6 months til 29th.

my hv said the minimum milk they should have is about 18oz a day.
i was struggling to get this ionto lizzie last week but i cut down her lunch and dinner portions just slightly and now shes fine with the 3 whole 8oz bottles.

    hope this helps x

Hi Liz, Thomas gets a 7oz bottle at 7am, breakfast which is normally a fruit breakfast puree at 8.30ish, then another bottle at 11.30am veg puree at 12-12.30ish, only drinks about 5-6 oz as like Eddison he knows his food is coming, another bottle at 3ish and some fruit puree half an hour or so later again he doesnt finish his 7oz bottle and then his last bottle is at 6.30ish and then bed. Have started to be a little more relaxed around his feeding times this week as i think I was like 'right its 7am got to have his food now' and so on every 4 hours i used to be like that, but if he's hungry he lets me know but you can more or less set ur watch by him.
weaning is so confusing! i'm also struggling with how much solids he should be having but he doesnt open his mouth when he's had enough so i guess he's full, he takes roughly 1/2-3/4 of a jar. x

    thanks for your replies.

Eddison would be quite happy on solids, water and 2 breastfeeds per day but he's not old enough for me to let him do that! He's still not properly settled on formula but I need some freedom.

    Thanks again
