Hiya, didn't want to crash Liz's thread-(again!) with a different post, so apologies for another FAO! Hope you & Emilia are well & busily planning your return to the UK? I remember you posting a while back that you dropped Emilia's DF as she wasn't taking enough milk in the mornings, and was wondering how you went about it, and was it after you started weaning?

We've always had the problem of Poppy not taking enough milk in the morning-4oz first bottle, maybe 6oz second bottle-and so reduced her DF from the full 8oz to 6oz. This improved things slightly in terms of morning intake, but she's still not taking as much. The problem I have with reducing it further is that she's likely to wake in the night for a feed anyway, as she doesn't take enough in those 1st two bottles, iyswim?

Her next bottles, she'll generally take 7 or 8oz and 9oz before bed, so I know that she has the capacity for the milk, I'm just not sure how to reduce/drop the DF without her not taking enough milk...We are starting weaning this week end, but doing baby-led, so I'm thinking that her food intake isn't going to be great initially. Any advice or your experience would be greatfully received. I'm so tired at the moment, and hubby is on lates for the next few weeks, which means I have to do DF before bed & it's killing me to stay up so late at the mo  xx

I can imagine it is hard going for you!
    This is what we did...

Emilia was taking 4-5oz at her feed at 10pm and then going back to sleep. She just wasn't interested in taking any milk in the morning and would take maybe 3oz, and was starving well before 11am. So over a period of about a week and a half I decreased the amount she had in the bottle. So for a couple of nights I would only make a 4oz bottle, then a 3oz etc (I was led by her though, when she left milk in the bottle I would decrease it to the nearest oz, if that makes sense?)...with her she just went straight back to sleep and slept through till 7am.
Normally I would of woken Emilia fully for her feed at 10pm, so she would take the full feed. It was only when we started phasing it out that we did dreamfeeding.
When she was on two meals we dropped the feed, and replaced it with breakfast. I think she was only taking an ounce, so by then she hardly noticed.
Now Emilia will drink 5 or 6 oz in the morning. She has the rest of the milk on her cereal. So in total has 8oz.

I hope that makes sense and helps...

Thanks for the message, feel very special today! Two FAO's!!:\)
