    Hi Ladies,

I haven't been on here for ages as we have had chicken pox in our house. My daughter got it about 4 weeks ago and came out in about 30 spots and was a bit grumpy for one day. She then kindly passed it on to Sebastian who started coming out in spots last Friday and OMG I have never seen so many spots on one child. The poor little love had them all over his body in his hair, in his ears and up his bottom. Took him to the doctor who reckoned that he also had them in his mouth, throat and gut. my little man was really poorly for days. Thankfully he's getting better now and is almost back to his happy smiling self and I am close to being allowe out in human company again.

Every cloud has a silver lining though as up until now he has had a dummy which we gave him because it helped with his colic. Personally I hate dummies (this is not a criticism I'm not saying babies shouldn't have dummies just that I didn't want mine to have one) and now that his colic has gone I have been trying to work out how to wean him off of it. Well because of the chicken pox in his mouth he couldn't suck his dumy and now refuses to have it at all. I haven't really had any problems settling him without it and in fact he is actually better at self settling now. Yay.

I would rather have done it without the pox but at least it's one childhood illnes I can cross off the list.

It sounds like he had a rough time, however I'm about to piss on your bonfire! I understand that if LO's get chicken pox before they're 1 they will more than likely be able to get it again...I'm not 100% sure about this and I'm not sure what magically changes when they hit midnight on the 364th day!!!!

Good work on the dummy though

Poor little man, when Jess had them she was absolutely covered head to toe as well and that was bad enough but she didn't have any internal ones. Poor thing. It'll be soon forgotten by him though at least.

I heard that you can get it twice if you only get it mildly, don't know if age has anything to do with it, but it sounds like your wee man was far from mild.

    Welcome back to the world
