Another post from me today ladies!

My lo is almost 10 weeks, over the past few days, she has been taking less milk than previously. Initially, I thought that this may because she was constipated, and needed a 'clear out', however, this has happened, and she's still not taking as much milk

She used to take around 5oz every 3 hours, but at the moment, she's only taking 3-4oz every 3 hours. She has had very bad colic & bottom end wind, and has been known to cry for a long time & be generally unsettled. The thing is, since taking less at each feed, she seems so much more happier and content, but I'm concerned that she's not getting enough milk.

We have lots of wet nappies. She is still taking the same time to feed, and we have only recently increased the teat size, so I don't think she's getting frustrated. We have also changed her to Cow & Gate Comfort milk for constipation & colic, but we have only done this today as she has needed size 3 teats due to the thickness of the milk. She is not taking any more of this milk than the other Cow Gate.

Am I worrying needlessly, as I figure she wouldn't be as content if she wasn't getting enough food. I'm just wondering why she has decreased the amount that she takes? Any ideas please?x

    hello

i think as you've only just changed formula i would give it a day or two, she may pick up, also as shes got loads of wet nappies and is happy i would say shes probably ok, i know jacob would let me know if he was hungry  maybe shes just going through a few days of wanting less?

Hey, I can totally symapthise with you on this. Sara is 8wks and was doing really well taking up to 5ozs a feed, so consistantly I started to make up 6oz bottles! For the past 2 days she's only taken 3-4oz every 3 hrs. Like your LO Sara has bad wind and can be difficult to settle.

I agree with PP, Sara would let me know if she was hungry, diff cry to colic cry. I think see how it goes and if you're really concerned contact your HV for advice. As long as she's gaining weight well, having wet nappies, generally being happy and sleeping well (or as well as before!) then I don't think you need to worry - especially when you've changed formula recently.

Good luck and let us know what happens - how are you finding the comfort milk??? Thinking about changing Sara onto it (but Aptamil version) as she wakes herself during the night wih griping pain, otherwise I think she's sleep through

Thanks for your responses ladies. Last night, I did her dream-feed earlier than I normally would (around 10:30pm, previously 11:30pm), but she hasn't really taken any more than the previous 2 days (around 25oz in 24hrs).

She still seems happy enough, and continues to have wet nappies, so not sure what the solution is. I was also thinking of not feeding her when she wakes at 5am, as she's only taking 2oz, which to me doesn't seem much of anything, and more for comfort than anything! Maybe she'd take more during the day then too...?

Liz, she's only been on it properly for yesterday & today's feeds, and apart from having to up the teat size, she seems fine with it. She's possiting (?sp) a bit more, but nothing else.

The odd thing is that on sunday, she seemed a lot more settled in herself anyway (she'd had 1 Comfort feed as DF, before we realised we had to increase teat size!), so it's hard to say how much of it is down to the formula.

When I contacted C & G via internet, they said it'd take up to 2 weeks for the effects to be clear. Do Aptamil have a web-site, you could contact them for advice?xx
