I've just ordered a free sample back of reusable nappies from my city council (Leeds) and if I can get on with them I think I might switch to reusable nappies! When we went on holiday I bought a bambino mio resuable swim nappy and was very very impressed with that and well the reasonableness of it!! lol! And since then I've been thinking about it. I hate the amount of bags of nappies we throw in the bin everyweek and how much we spend on them! I didn't realise that most councils offer some sort of real nappy freebie. Ours offers a free sample pack or ??30 cashback if you've spent ??50 or over on real nappies. Anyway what I was wondering was for those that already use reusables, what do you use and where did you get them from? Also, any tips?!

we started using them last month, we have disposables at night still though, as ours need a lot more washes to reach the absorbancy needed for our little night piddler

i started off with some kidley borrowed from a lovely lady from here, i started off with popins and bumgenuis, bumgenius are by far my fave nappy, we also have got some of the ones off ebay from china as they have funky patterns on and are a pocket nappy that you can stuff with extra boosters if needed, i much prefer the velcro close than the poppers but the velco can irritate LOs skin if it touches.

i have recently bought a load from http://www.babipur.co.uk/shop/Washable_Nappies/c23/index.html?osCsid=7b43c98a7baea3912c697b9b2eedfe0a

as thier bumgenius are 20% off due to them launching the next version, most of the others have been off ebay, i have paid between ??5 and ??10 for nappies off ebay.

i also bought a nappy bag for storing them when were out as we were using disposables to go out in, its basically a waterproof drawstring bag, i got that from babipur, i bought a load of flushable liners to catch the poo too, i think they were totbots ones!

    good luck
i am now a total nappy addict and have to find a way to curve my addiction as i have just gone on to SMP! i get round hubby by telling him we can use them for our next baby!

Ha ha - I used that one on OH last night too! I've seen the bumgenius ones but how do they work? (sorry am a complete nappy idiot!) Do you have to wash to whole nappy once they've been used or is it just an insert that you remove to wash? Also how many do you need?? x

bumgenius are pocket nappies so they have a outer bit thats soft on one side (bum) but waterproof on the outer, you have to wash and line dry these, they have 2 liners you put in the pocket bit that are removed and washed , these can be tumble dryed but i line dry the lot (love seeing them on the line!)

the pop ins have a outer that is also washed but instead of the liners going in a pocket in the nappy they are poppered on the the outer nappy,

i have a lidded bin that i put them in when used and when i have a full bin i wash them, i cold rinse in the wash then wash on 40 with a 1/4 of the amount of power that i would normally put in a wash but with no conditioner as this stops them absorbing, i then cold rinse the again before putting on the line

I also can't recommend Bumgenius enough! They're bringing out a new one which closes with poppers instead of Velcro. I think I'd prefer poppers as already our Velcro is looking tatty.

I also use cheeky wipes which are brilliant. I found most baby wipes harsh on Monty's skin but these use water with a few drops of lavender and chamomile oil so are v gentle and smell divine and of course as they're reuseable they cost less in long run on the pocket and environment xx

ooooh wee notions are fantastic hun! i spent my entire back payment of emmy's child benefit on ones for her! oopsies, but she will be my one and only baby so i want to spoil her rotten while she's too tiny to become spoilt iykwim lol once i go back to work her child benefit is all going into her bank account unfortunately so i will have to curb my wee notions habit as i wont be able to afford it boooo.

oh, and the pocket nappies from there are fantastic, they're super absorbant (don't forget to purchase your inserts when you order too as they don't come with any!), the minkee ones are sooooo soft, and you know they're pretty much one of a kind which just makes them even better in my opinion! lol

enjoy the wonderful world of cloth you've now entered lol
