    PM
Just jumped on mum's dodgy laptop to say hi girls!

Hope you and your lo's are all well? Been trying to catch up on everything but too much to read while watching One Born Every Minute, drink tea and eat chocolate!

Surviving the helpful 'advice' up to now and trying to ignore the bizarre comments eg

Stepdad on Freddie's reflux ' you know what his problem is? He feeds too fast' errrrrrm he's breastfed I can't ask him to slow down!

My mum on breastfeeding 'I don't care what anyone says I think breastfeeding's hard work' no sh1t sherlock!!!!

Stepdad on Freddie's nightly waking 'you could do with dropping one of those feeds' grrrrrrrrr he was sleeping from 830 til 5 until last week when he started waking earlier each night - settling on 130 waking and again between 4 and 5. So, have spoken to his sister (she's a HV) and she said he sounded hungry and in her professional role she wouldn't be able to say to try baby rice but as a family member she said to try him. SO we did and he loved it! And he went back to sleeping from 830 til 5 on the first night - fingers crossed for tonight.

Well done if you're still reading!

One last piece of news - OH is on nights which is why Freddie and I are in Wales, anyhoo wasn't looking forward to my birthday as we were gonna be apart but he drove 200 miles after a 12 hour night shift to see me and the best bit - HE PROPOSED!!!! I'm gonna be a Mrs!!! Not allowed to announce it yet as OH can't get hold of his 15 year old son to tell him. Want to scream it from the rooftops and can't but I figured I can tell you lot cos you're not likely to bump into his son

Right best go, mum's wanting her laptop back

Big hugs to you and your lo's

    Welsh xx

congratulations, and hello from Wales aswell.
I've been thinking about the baby rice aswell as Tyler wakes 3 times at night for food even though he's had his full amount in the day.

How much did you give him and at what time ?

    Thanks

    Sarah

    Thanks girls!
We've finally gone public ... not in an ideal way but OH has complicated family issues so I guess it was never gonna be ideal.

Sarah - with Freddie's baby rice I just started him on a couple of spoonfuls that had lots of my expressed milk in it. I'm using Organix which says 1 tbsp rice to 3 tbsp milk - I only used tsp tho as didn't want to end up throwing loads away. The second day he had 6 spoonfuls and yesterday was 8 (and he got his hand in the pot and tried eating it with his fingers!)

I've got the Annabel Karmel book and am loosely following that, so today he's having carrot!

He's been having it late afternoon (4 ish) but he's having his carrot at lunchtime today as have to go out. May give him couple of spoons of baby rice later if back in time but not too much as he'll have had carrot. His reflux is certainly no worse for it and I think he slept better for it last night, fed at 230 but then apart from getting up to settle him he slept til 645.

Have asked a couple of retired midwives as well as stepdad's HV sister - all have said if he's more than 12lb and waking when he was previously sleeping he's more than likely ready

Good luck with Tyler if you try it! And have a camera ready - Freddie looked funny with a baby rice moustache!!
