My little girl is taking her time in gaining weight. This is partly due to feeding problems and jaundice in the early days, but she is still a little slow on the uptake. she is almost 6 weeks, she was born at 37+4 weeks, at 6lb 15. She went down to 6lbs, 6 at 5 days, then at 2 weeks she was 6, 8, 3 weeks she was 6, 13 and 5 weeks she was 7lb 4. shes on the 2nd centile on her weight graph. She feeds regularly and for a good amound of time, she has the right coloured nappies etc. The HV didnt seem too worried but i just wanted to compare notes...

    Hi Em

Tyler is 3 weeks old, was born at 7lb 13. Then went down to 7lb 6 is now almost 8lb 14, I thought he wasn't getting enough food due to wind and sick but apparently they are very happy with his weight so are not overly concerned about the sick.

    Hiya
Finley Ross was born at 9lb 0.5, went down to 8lb 13 and then back up to 9lb 6 at 2 weeks old. He was weighed today at 25 days and is 10lb 7! Little porker, but he's on hungry baby food and eats A LOT xx

Dylan was born at 41 1/2 weeks at 7lb 8oz, he never lost weight weighed 7lb 9.5oz at 5 days and today at 19 days weighs 8lb 11oz.

Hes a hungry baby though on 5oz's 6 times a day. But he is below average for his weight but is gaining weight steadily for him (nice curve on his graph etc) if they arent concerned hun dont worry everyones different maybe shes just going to be slim like her mummy!

    Hi Em

Freddie was born at 41 + 2 weighing 6lb 2, went down to 5lb 6 (we also had feeding issues and jaundice - we were threatened with them taking him into SCBU and had 24 hours of 2 hourly feeds to build him up a bit) it worked! So at 2 weeks 4 days he was up 6lb 10 and last week at 4 weeks 3 days he was 7lb 11. And finally the HV seems happy

Yay i'm glad my Sophie isn't the only porker out there!! She was 9lb born and the same at 6 days, then 9lb 14oz at 2 weeks, 10lb 3oz at 3 weeks and 10lb 12oz today (she'll be 4 weeks tomorrow!).

Sophie also takes 5oz (give or take the odd oz left in the bottle) 6 times a day. The HV was chuffed to pieces with her today and she is following the curve on her graph perfectly.

Like the other mummies have said, the HV will soon tell you if they are concerned about anything.

Great... I seem to be the only one with a baby that has not put on any weight, in fact he is below his birth weight at 24 days old

He was born at 7lb 13oz and did go up to 8lb 3oz at 16 days old but was weighed at the hospital on Friday (20 days old) and the paeditrician yesterday (23 days old) and he is sitting on 7lb 11oz. He has had a cold but I do worry if he is feeding enough???

No one seems to be bothered but your babies are all putting on weight and mine is the only one that seems to be losing it?

Feeling like Im not feeding him enough  I wish some professional would guide me. Still not a word from any bloody HV either!!! :x

Thank you for your replies ladies. One thing is obvious - all the babies are very different in their weight gain - maybe this is of some comfort Sim? Overall my baby is only 5 oz heavier than when she was born 6 weeks ago, so really not that much. I wouldnt worry too much Sim, but in our area, you can call the MW hotline for advice or take your baby to the weighing clinic whenever you want. Maybe there's something like that in your area?

Well lo and behold a HV actually called me this afternoon to arrange to come tomorrow (that is only because hubby chased them up cos Ive not had time to do it myself!!) By the sounds of her on the phone (I was in tears with a crying baby and she just kept ranting on about some stupid meeting that could over run and blah blah blah she should be here by 5pm) Im expecting to be given a serve for being a bad mum
Sorry, had another bad day. Brody just gets so stressed on my left breast for some reason and for another reason Im thinking he just doesnt want to take the hind milk (gas? reflux?) - which is where all the calories are that he is needing! So he is getting frustrated and so am I so I end up giving him the other breast. I don't know what Im doing anymore.
