Hi everyone - some of you may have seen on another of my posts that I am a bit worried about how much Logan drinks!!

At the moment he is almost 13 weeks and on 8 bottles of 7oz!!! Half of them he sucks dry so am going to have to put him on 8oz. THis jsut seems like alot compared to some others.

    THanks x

    Hi hun,

As I said in your other thread Dexter has 6oz every 4 hours but until a couple of weeks ago he was on 5oz every 3 hours and I wouldn't be suprised if he was on the same amount as Logan when he gets to the same age. Have you tried hunrgy milk? I don't know how that works in terms of oz's per servings but its meant to keep them fuller for longer.

Also replied on your other thread but good point made by Plumduff about the hungry milk- may solve the problem of number of feeds you're having to do plus the waking at night issues you're having at the moment. People I know who have given hungry milk have found their LOs sleeping through the night much quicker. Wouldn't advise it if it wasn't necessary but sounds like it may be the best thing for you boy

hey hun, id wait another week or so before trying hungry baby milk, it can make lo's constipated and it is probably just the growth spurt (but if not at least you know before having to give him a different milk) the growth spurts at 3 and 4 month last a lot longer than the ones when they were wee so just try to ride the storm out just now

oh and sam had 7oz every 4 hours and jack has between 2-4oz when given formula but he has reflux and its painful for him to have large feeds i had moved sam onto hungry baby milk at 4 months and he was ok re the constipation but i have heard of it being too harsh on babies tums. babies often increase their feeds when they are working on something new like rolling over, sitting up, talking, holding things, new developmental things etc what about asking your health visitor? xx

My Lo has 35 oz a day 5-6oz sometimes he would take 7 oz bottles but 7 oz def before bed. Hes 10 weeks and roughly 14lb.

Hes on cow and gate hungry milk and has been since 7.5 weeks he was taking far too much milk in 35oz then and making himself sick.
Its taken until now for him to be settled it made him have runny greenish poos for a while and smelly wind but back to normal now and if anything he goes more often.

He went 6 hrs the first night i gave him it but only 4-5 now on 7oz.
Dont be surprised if Logan still takes quite abit of milk but he will go longer and feel more satisfied.
    Glad i switched.

Well I am not in contact with my HV anymore but I am going to the baby clinc on friday to get him weighed so was going to ask if there was someone I could chat to about it there. Will be interesting to see how his weight is as he jumped up a centile last time.

    Hi,

My 2 are on 5 bottles of 7oz a day (7am/11am/2pm/6pm & 9.30pm). I agree with some of the others, have you tried hungry baby milk?? I've got my 2 on SMA hungry baby and it made a difference when i changed. As you know i also started giving them a little food (about 1/2 a rusk each by spoon) with their 2pm feed, so they are only drinking about 4ozs with that feed. It does sound as though Logan is drinking a lot, could he be ready to wean a little?? Hope you get things sorted xx

THank you for all your comments and ideas - like I said earlier in the thread I think iwill see if I can chat to someone on Friday - and monitor how he is (it could slow down) and take it from there.
I hope it either sorts itself out or we sort it out soon though its exhausting lol. It wasn't this tiring when he was a newborn!!!

tbh hun, pops is on 5oz bottles but prob 3 or 4 times a day she has an extra 2 to get her to sleep, she feeds at

    8.30am when she wakes
    11.30am
    1.30pm
    5.30pm
    8.00pm
    10.00pm

although she sleeps throught the night, her 1st, 2nd, 5th and last feed are almost always 7oz (i dont know why we dont just make 7oz to start with)
the back of the tub says roughly at her age 6oz 5 times a day but some babies may need more??, i wouldnt worry though hun, you can control their weight when they are eating food later in life, and when they start moving they will lose weight, as long as he is happy leave him x x x

Hi everyone thanks for your replies - I spoke to HV who was pretty useless to be honest but have decided to give hungry baby a go and see how it goes. Hopefully it will make him a bit more settled and satisfied! Have tried quite a few other things before this and had thouht about hungry milk a few weeks ago and things got worse rather than better.
    Fingers crossed!
THanks again everyone - knew I could count on you all
