Im with mel on this, just go with the flow. I tryed riley at 2yrs but he couldnt get on with it but at 2 1/2 he was ready and had no problems, his not totally dry at night which i dont expect him to be yet. This was mainly coz of starting nusery but they were ok if he was still in pull ups. Altho i have a friend who just didnt bother till she wanted hr son to start nusery and they point blank refused unless he was toilet trained.
I no of other kids the same age that are still in training pants as they cant cope with stress of the potty,he will be ready in his own time.
Best of luck and hope its not to long for you.

I think it sounds as if you are doing things right. You just need to keep trying and persevering and your son will get there in the end! He will do things in his own time.
I was reading something last week which said that disposable nappies encourage children to potty train later as they move the urine away from the skin, If you try using washable training pullups ( i think mothercare have them) they keep the moisture neat the skin which makes the child feel wet and uncomfortable. That sounds nasty but it makes them realise that they are wet and they learn that it;s not a nice feeling!
I am going to have a look for a link to the training pants and will add a post later!
