TGIF!! Longest week ever! I'm excited too as its exactly one week to go til my scan wohoo!
Put my tights on this morning and they completely split in half, brilliant! Weighed myself and I've put on 10lb in 7 weeks - is that normal?! It just seems to be on my tummy though, no where else! Anyway better get used to it as its going to be getting a lot bigger (obviously!)
Hope you all have fab days x

SS, you sure it might not just be bloating and water retention? I've heard thermal thy weight to gain in first tri is only 3-5lbs, but I know I've been super bloated recently and probably retaining water, too.
As for me, I bit the bullet and weighed myself for the first time since pre-wedding (June), and happily I've only gained 2.4kg since then. I was expecting a lot more. I wasn't entirely happy at my wedding weight, as it was still 7kg overweight, or a little more than a stone. So, pre-empting my midwife lecture, I am really going to Try to watch what I'm eating and keep healthy so I don't gain more than I have to on this pregnancy. No more baking cakes, no more Nutella for breakfast.. Actually, no more Nutella full stop! It's all go on lean meats, healthy fats, and loads of fruit and veg. Apparently elusive 'experts' advise women with overweight BMIs to gain only 15-25lbs during pregnancy, instead of the recommended 25-35 for women of a healthy weight, and then for those categorised as obese it drops to 11-20!
Anyways, in other more exciting news, it's scan day for me!!

morning ladies !
im having a meltdown- after counters maternity pay post yesterday i started looking into it, and SMP is only 136 pw ??? im starting to panic !

It's better than nothing! In the states the only right a woman has in regard to mat leave is that they have up to 12 weeks, and unpaid unless their employer offers specific benefits! Only a handful of states have legislation for paid parental leave. We are very lucky to like in a country that offer mothers so much. SMP, child benefit, free prescriptions and dental car. It's all a lot more than elsewhere. Oh, and free antenatal healthcare. We basically get paid (peanuts) to have babies here, in the states we would have to pay the hospital!

SS - exciting that it's only one week until your scan!
Hi BM, congratulations :)
Good luck for your scan Wispa! Eeek!!
That's all we're getting too Monnie. We're saving like mad now!
Have a nice time at your sister's CC :)
AFM, told H last night. I pounced as soon as he walked in the door, he still had his coat and bag on! We both cried, I'm so happy. When do I need to make an appointment with my GP? I'm only 3+6, is that too early?
Happy Friday everyone x

Fig bless your H I didn't have to see my GP they just told me to call and make an appointment with the midwife when I was 6-7 weeks I think it was.. I'd give your surgery a call tho they all seem to do it differently :)

Figaro, you might not need to see your GP, but it's not too early to check. I went to the GP at 4+something. Call the surgery, ask if you need a GP referral to the midwives, or if you can self refer. If you don't need a referral, ask for the number for the midwives in your area and call them. It's good the get the ball rolling early, the midwives near me seem swamped at the minute, like everyone is getting pg now! My booking in appt isn't until 8 Nov, but they normally do them up to a week or two earlier in my area, apparently.
I forgot to mention earlier, but after my scan and house viewing today I'm headed over to check out Nutella's new house; I'm super excited! I need to pick up something for her that says "congratulations on your lovely new home, I'm not at all jealous of you, ***!" :D. I'm thinking a nice candle or something, hahah.
