Morning all, hope everyone is well this morning.
Not a lot going on here, collected some baby clothes which I bought on a local selling site yesterday so now have quite a few bits in varying sizes which will give us a good start. We were planning on a walk today but the weather is cold and wet, so might pop to my parents for a bit instead and do the baking we never got to yesterday. H is out tonight so I'm hoping to get some work done ahead of going back on Monday.

Margot- the weather is rubbish here too. Enjoy baking at your parents.
Not much to report, just working my way through my jobs today. Might ring some local nurseries to see what the waiting lists are like. I was pleasantly surprised by the maternity ward yesterday. It's midwife led, and you can go to the delivery suite as soon as you arrive (as long as ones free, if not you go on the ward until there is), and get to stay in that room until you are ready to be discharged. The rooms were massive as well, and nicely decorated. Plus the winning factor for ne was that there was a kitchen with tea, coffee, microwave meals, sandwiches, snacks etc where you can help yourselves to while there. As long as I know I'm not going to go hungry I'm happy! Even though I know I probably won't be in the mood for eating!

Margot - enjoy the baking
Bunny - the midwife unit sounds great, the foods rubbish at our hospital, I always got my H to bring me a McDonald's :-)
AFM - nothing much to report, my H is at home today cos he's night shift tonight so might try and have a bit of a tidy up while he's here to entertain the sprogs. Nothing happening baby wise :-)

Bunny, that sounds like a lovely labour ward, far nicer than either of the ones I've been in.
Ally, hope you can get stuff done whilst your H is around.

Margot - Yes the weather rubbish, hope you have a good day whatever you end up doing!
Bunny - Your maternity unit sounds lovely!
Ally - Have a nice day!
AFM - I feel like baby is squashing my lungs at the minute (if thats even possible!) and I can't take a proper big breath. It seems like it's either sitting on my bladder and making me wee a lot or squishing up and making me not be able to breather very well!
The stuff I ordered from kiddicare came yesterday, it seems what I thought was a bargain cot set for £20 was actually a crib set so it has to go back. What is cot bedding so expensive?!
Have a good day all!

Margot - enjoy your day, hope you get to do your baking today.
Bunny - your MWLU sounds brilliant, love the sound of that kitchen!
Ally - have a good day.
TT - that's annoying about the bedding. Hope the baby starts letting you breathe a bit easier.
AFM - not much to report baby-wise but sickness seems to be a bit better. Out for lunch with work friends today and then getting my hair cut tonight so considering it's a work day, I think I'll feel quite relaxed by the end of it!

M - hope the weather cheers up for you
Bunny - mw led unit sounds lovely!
Ally - handy having your H around, hope you get what you want done
TT- what is included in the cod bedding? We just used fitted cot sheets and growbags.
AFM - not much to report, had along chat with H last night about names (see my other post) and this morning I realised we only have one month until we go away to Spain so I need to sort out clothes and swimwear for me and A. Baby wise little to report, people are now guessing I'm pregnant before I tell them, went to a market meeting yesterday which is fortnightly and the other 8 guys eyes nearly popped out of their heads when I walked in with my bump not hidden away.

Bg- it's lovely when people can tell. Bet the guys faces were a picture!
Yeah the units only been open for a year, so everythings still quite new.

Morning ladies quick one ive got my scan a week today getting a tad nervous with them checking so many organs and measurements what actually happens at this scan like do they tell u as they are going along things are ok or not ok....or do they give u like a report at the end by one of the midwives?? X

Our sonographer on Monday was pointing out the different bits she was looking at as she went along, and there were little labels which came up on the screen as well. They then put a report in my notes at the end which simply lists all the different things they were looking for with 'seen' or other info. Try not to worry too much x
11/04/2013 at 11:21
Ok thanks. ...just didn't want scan to finish me thinking all ok as they hadnt said anything to be then taken into a little room to then be told. Anyhoo thanks margot hopefully thats what they will do with me x
11/04/2013 at 11:27
I think you'd know if something was up, even if they didn't say, from their tone of voice or if they went to get someone else in. If you are nervous, you can always ask them if they can let you know what they are looking at as they go.

My sonographer pointed out the various organs and I think she said at the end everything was fine, but I then had a brief MW appointment (urine, BP etc) where the MW took me through the report.

Margot - what are you planning baking today - do i remember correctly it was going to be banana bread...?
Bunny - good news about the unit, its always nice when its comfy and there are home comforts.
Ally - Get H to tidy up with you gets done quicker that way ;)
TwinkleToes - i remember that feeling, its horrible isn it. It wil pass, just dont over exert yourself while you feel like this.
PC - i wish my work days were like that. sounds like fun!
BG - have fun sorting out holiday clothes and show off that bump!
Duckford - When do you find out your results - good luck!
Boris - Dont worry too much. They will tell you what they are doing as they are going along xx
AFM - i had my 16 week MW appt this morning and all went well. My mind was put at rest as she listened to the HB, it was faint as she thinks my placenta might have been in the way but i did get to hear it very faintly but it was there and whilst she was listening the second time - she did it twice to see if she could hear it better - i got the biggest movement, the first proper kick that i have had this time around :)) She doesnt want to see my now until i am 28 weeks!! Apparently its all different 2nd time around.
11/04/2013 at 12:25
Duckford- bet it's a lovely feeling finishing! How exciting about the nursery do you know what colours/theme youre going for?
Boris- ours told us at the start that if something was wrong they had to tell us. She told us what she was looking at and gave another person measurements to put in the computer. At the end she showed us the whole of baby, as she had been zooming in a lot, and pointed out hands and feet etc. She just said everything looked fine at the end nd gave us the report in our notes. It just says normal next to the organs looked at. It also had 3 graphs on it with measurements for I think femur bone, tummy and head. Not too sure as we deciphered it ourselves. There are the lines for growth to show if baby is growing at the right rate.
11/04/2013 at 12:27
Poppyseeds- that's great, maybe your placenta being in the way is why you havent felt as much this time. It's lovely hearing the heartbeat.
11/04/2013 at 12:42
Ok thanks ladies that has put me at ease. X
Poppyseeds, pleased your MW appointment went well and that you got some big movements. Banana and raisin muffins this afternoon and I might start sewing my pram and carseat blankets, children permitting.
