It has been so quiet on here lately, I'm not sure what's going on?
i hope everyone is ok and just busy doing lots of lovely things?
Well I've made myself a private physio appt for next week. I can't wait for the nhs any longer and I want to be able to carry on swimming and walking without too much pain, it's got to be good for me and baby to keep active rather than turning into a lazy blob.
I went swimming yesterday and happy feet seemed to like it, they were very active yesterday. They're having a lazy morning today though as I've only had a few wriggles so far.

Morning Imp. I'm glad you've made the physio appt, hopefully they'll be able to help, and as you say, far better to keep active if you can than turn into a blobster! (This is coming from a complete blobster...) Yay for lots of movement from happy feet yesterday, I find that Attila is way quieter in the mornings and the most active in the evenings too, apparently the pattern in the womb continues when they're born, so lots of sleepless nights coming possibly!
First day of ML for me today. I have a midwife appt at 9, I've swelled up a bit in the last week or so - my ankles are a thing of the past - so will mention it to her, but I think it's just normal late pregnancy swelling. I'm hoping attilais still head down and behaving herself too. Then I'm not sure what to do for the rest of the day, possibly write a birth plan or start thinking about packing my hospital bag! Or I have shedloadsof of cleaning that needs doing, so many exciting possibilities!
Hope the rest of you third triers are all ok, come out and play!

Morning Imp and SG and others to follow :)
imp - great news about booking the physio, I should have done this too but haven't and just suffered. Are you worried about the birth with the discomfort, I know I am, I can barely walk some days and it's difficult to get out of bed. Do you have one of those birthing balls? I was thinking of buying one from Amazon at £20 to give it a go see if it helps, it may even help with labour in getting baby down and in the right position.
SG - lovely to have finished up work and all the possibilties await you now, cleaning, washing, birth plan haha :) I know this will be my list too when it comes round. I hope you have a great day whatever you get around to doing. I hope the mw appt goes well :)
AFM - sorry I've been awol, I'm so tired that I only browse now and again and I post on the FB page, naughty I know as we need more participants to chat on these forums. We have our next growth scan a week tomorrow, I hope all's well with him and I have my baby shower on Sunday (a surprise planned as I wasn't too keen!).
Take care all and hope Monnie is doing ok xx

Imp, good call to make the physio appt. I'm not sure how good the nhs physio can be, anyways. Someone I know went for SPD and all it was was sitting ina. Room with lots of people with similar problems and being told how to avoid making it worse- all things you can easily find online. No actual physio! Not sure if that's the case everywhere, but my bet is private will be far better anyways!
SG, enjoy mat leave! I know you're still going to be super busy with J, but hopefully you get to relax a bit as well. Sure the swelling is fine, but how was the midwife appt?
LL, I'm guilty of the same! I'm sure you'll have fun at your baby shower, even if you weren't keen.
AFM, the maternity pillow is helping! If only because it means I toss and turn less, so less waking up and less pain. Then again, I've also been taking some paracetamol before going to bed and it could be a combination of the two. We had our last NCT class last night, and I think we were planning to do a social get together one night before the first of the babies is due. Not much else going on.. Volunteering today, and worried I'm coming down with a bug as my voice has been quite hoarse since yesterday and my throat hurts today. Hopefully nothing.

SG yay to your first day of mat leave! Did you eat all the chocolates yesterday? If not then I would eat some more today and try and take it easy a bit!
Leelee I have got a ball and I try and use it each eveving for a bit. It does help but it doesn't make it go away. One thing I would say, is buy a decent ball. I bought a cheapo one first and I didn't feel safe using it. It didn't seem firm enough to me so i ended up ordering another one. How lovely about your baby shower, I hope you have a lovely time. I wasn't keen either but my friends wnated to orgnaise one for me too.
Wispa Glad the pillow seems to be helping, anything that helps is worth a try. Have you tried a ball? I hope the bug doesn't show it's head, hopefully it'll just come and go.

Morning all, I never get on here anymore, I read the thread every day but nothing much is going on my end so not a lot to post about.
Imp - do you have a maternity swimsuit? I was interested in buying one but OH said no as I brought a brand new one before I got pregnant and I should be able to get back into that after. Which is valid but still.
SG - yay for ML. I had to use up annual leave before mat leave so I've been off since before Easter and mat leave won't kick in until may 27th so I'm bored out of my mind. Hope the swelling now goes down and you can get some rest amongst your chores.
LeeLee - hope your baby shower is fun. Mine is set for Sunday too. Not really looking forward to it... I don't like having attention on me, don't like birthday parties or anything like that so hoping it's not too bad. Also who arranged your growth scan? I have a higher BMI so fall under the category to have it but at 35 weeks I've had no appt come through.
Wispa - glad the mat pillow is helping. I considered buying one but I've found just swapping sides with my H has helped tonnes. His side of the bed just seems far better than me, he hasn't had a good nights sleep since we swapped but I'm sleeping solidly the whole night through now :) did you enjoy your antenatal classes? My sister had her baby 2 weeks ago so she went to the NHS ones recently and said she didn't learn anything so I feel I may not go to mine.
AFM - I'm buying my first house, so that's a little stressful to say the least. In baby news, I fell over Tuesday and was worried about movement so went up to day assessment yesterday to get checked out. All fine but we had a scare when the alarm went off and all the midwives ran in but her heart rate came back down so they deemed it all normal and fine. I also had a call from a health visitor saying they were coming over, I said. "But I haven't had the baby yet?" And she said its standard practice to come and say hello before the baby and get to know me... I had no idea.
Question - when do you get measured for a nursing bra? My sister went at 37/38 weeks and they said that was way too early, is it really? My boobs haven't changed at all so far in third tri...

WW I guess go as close to the end as possible, but how do you know when that is?! Maybe just make sure you've got room to grow into whatever one you buy, then buy more after the baby arrives?
I have got a tankini froM ASOS, it's fab. I don't even mention it to C when I want to buy sonething mat related as I pay for it, rather than it coming out of our joint account. Glad that baby is ok but what a scare for you.

Leelee- the impending baby shower sounds fun, if people want to organise you one it'd be rude to argue!
Wispa, glad the pillow is helping. It's good the nct classes have yielded sociallyness- I found I got quite close to my group after the babies were born. Hope you're not coming down with anything.
WW, scary about the fall, but I'm glad everything was ok. It seems to vary from area to area whether you see your HV in advance or not, we don't but I think it'd be nice to meet them, possibly feel more comfortable by the time the baby gets here.
Afm, my midwife was fine, bp fine, bump measuring to dates and baby still head down, so all good there. Unfortunately after that I got a call from nursery to collect J as he was sick, we've been watching Peppa between sicks since, one of which entirely covered me. I'm changed but it soaked through to the skin, and he needs cuddles so I can't get a shower till h gets home. Yum! Think I may have to skip pregnancy yoga tonight in favour of getting clean. Soooo not what I had in mind for my first day of ML!

Imp, I've got a ball, but it's only half blown up atm as the pump wasn't working and I tried just blowing it up manually and got dizzy. Ant said he would finish it, but that was days ago and I really should remind him :)
WW, to be honest, there wasn't a lot of information in the class I didn't already know about pregnancy, labour, birth, and new baby. What was helpful was the way they had us think about things like how it might effect our relationship, how we will approach parenting together, what our priorities are and how they will change as a couple, etc. and I think it was also really useful for Ant as he hasn't done the reading I have on everything. We also went to the nhs one at our hospital and it was rubbish! It was the only way we could see the delivery suite, though, as they showed a video and they don't allow tours. We haven't heard from the HV in our area, but I know others have. Sorry to hear you had a bit of stress with the fall and monitoring, but glad baby is ok. And house-buying! I understand the stress so well but it's also exciting. When are you hoping to move?
SG, how awful, I hope J is feeling better this evening and tomorrow. Mat leave probably just isn't the same when there's a toddler in the house, here's hoping tomorrow is better for you!
01/05/2014 at 17:18
SG I hope J is feeling better soon. Poor little thing. I'm sure it's not how you planned to spend your first day of May leave either.
Wispa jeez don't blow it up manually, I'm amazed you managed any of it as they take a lot of air to be properly inflated! Maybe pick up a cheapo pump from eBay or somewhere?
01/05/2014 at 20:47
Wispa - that's good news about the pillow helping, I tried pillow between my knees but for me it made the discomfort worse. How do you use your pillow? Good combo of the pillow and pills, have to go with whatever works for you :)
Imp - I did wonder about which one to buy and not sure there are some cheaper ones on Amazon, the one I have my eye on is £20. I need to try something as today my lower back is now hurting too, feels like I'm in a vice right round my pelvis/pubis to my bum, hips and back.
Ww - I don't like the spotlight on me either which is why I was a bit surprised about Sunday, but I'm sure it will be good fun, I'm sure yours will too :) I'm having the growth scans because of my bmi, having gestational diabetes and my age :)
SG - I hope little J is better :)

Leelee if you want I can find the link to one I ordered second time?
01/05/2014 at 20:58
Imp that would be great thank you, any help gratefully received :) x

LL, I got a pillow that has a lower 'bump' section to support bump, and the long lower section I keep between my lower legs. When I was using a normal pillow between the knees it definitely made things worse, and I thought the first night this pillow did as well, but I think it might have been because I had to pillow between my thighs, which actually opened my legs too much iykwim. In addition to the long maternity pillow I also have one of our throw pillows wedged behind my lower back, which I think helps as well.
The other thing that has helped potentially is doing pelvic tilts and hip bridges and squats while holding onto the kitchen sink. Oh, and moving my hips around while in the shower, not too much, but the steam/hot water and light movement makes me so much less stiff and it's easier to move afterwards.

It was this one, it's great, it also comes with a little leaflet with different exercises in it.

Wispa thanks for your advice so happy you're finding it works for you, long may it continue :)
Imp that's wicked the one you've bought is the one I've got in my wish list at Amazon, I'm gonna order it, thanks for your help with this xx
