Busy thread yesterday!
I'm on the train to work already, have a 8am interview and haven't done any prep yet. Have a fairly busy working week ahead of me as I'm not in next week, as I *may* have mentioned before I'm going away this weekend, woohoo!
Been getting a few stitches in bump, mainly when I'm walking at a speed and yesterday when I was rolling around on the floor playing with A. One of them really took my breath away and had me a bit worried, she (still can't get used to saying she!) seems to me mocing around as normal so probably only hurt me. Just as well that I've persuaded mum and the rest of the gang to switch to the 5k option for the race for life in July. Not that they needed much persuading, mind.
H felt a kick for the first time last night, he's a bit weirded out by it but I persuaded him to put 2 fingers on bump and she (!) kicked right on cue. He of course thinks I faked it. Yeah, because I have those kind of stomach muscles and control dear.

Morning BG, it was busy yesterday need to get on early otherwise I've got no chance of doing personals!
How lovely that H felt a kick. I can't wait til we get to that stage. Might take a bit longer this time around though as I have an anterior placenta. Where are you going this weekend? Have a lovely time.
AFM the weather has really turned today it's dark and raining already! Meeting up with a friend and her two los at her house this afternoon. Was hoping the children could play in the garden but think that will be a no go.
Hi to all that follow xx
08/05/2013 at 07:11
I get those pains too. Normally when I've over exerted myself. I do love the things hudbands come out with sometimes.
Not alot to report here. Bump growing nicely and I think we have our name. Just hope H doesn't change his mind again.

Hi Mrs B. Missed you x
I have an anterior placenta too and the last time. Didn't feel anything til 20weeks but baby making up for it now x
08/05/2013 at 07:14
Ha, I know, there's no way I can do more than a page worth of personals from my phone, especially when at work. It wasn't that lovely ad romantic, he spent the next 5 minutes telling me how weird and unnatural it was. Still better than last time when he leapt out of bed, across the room like he'd just seen something out of Alien! I had an anterior placenta last time but could still feel and see plenty from the outside, I ly a week or two later than my tri buddies that time round.
Hope the weather brightens up for you, it's miserable here too!
We're off to Spain for a week.
08/05/2013 at 07:16
D, I'm so jealous you've settled on a name, we're having a Mexican stand off at the moment. Go on, share!
08/05/2013 at 07:24
Oh Spain! Nice. Wish we were going abroad this year but alas Cornwall will have to do. Aren't H's funny sometimes? It's good to hear that having an anterior placenta didn't affect movement too much. I felt the bubbly sensation with Isla at around 18 weeks, we shall see this time around.
Hi daisy. We are sorted for a boys name (same one we would've used if Isla was a boy) we always find girls name difficult, Did last time.
08/05/2013 at 07:44
BG, lots of aches and pains here after overdoing it too. How fab for H to feel the movements.
Mrs B, hope you have a lovely afternoon despite the weather. I apparently have an anterior placenta this time too but it's made no difference to feeling or seeing movements.
Daisy, glad you have your name and hope H doesn't change his mind.
AFM, another busy day in store - school run, drop my neighbour at work, swimming, quick stop at Asda, then take Jacob to FIL as I'm working this afternoon, pick him up once I've finished and then not a lot after that! Weather has changed here too but still warm. We've still not had the name chat but will try to ambush him with my choices soon! ML form all filled in at work yesterday so all official now.
08/05/2013 at 07:46
MrsB - Spain is a cheaper option than Cornwall for us, FIL and his wife live out there so no accommodation costs.
M - did you get your MatB1 form from the mw ok? I'm not sure to see mine again until 28 weeks.
08/05/2013 at 08:05
BG, yes I did - I rang her, she asked me to text her the details then she posted it to me.
08/05/2013 at 08:23
Wow 2nd tri is so busy at the moment. I will try my best with personals but I'm on my phone do if I miss anyone out I apologise.
BG- nice for your H to be feeling kicks. Very impressed you are doing race for life. 5k would take me about a week!
MrsB- hope the weather dries up a bit so the children can play out
Daisy- do we get to know your name choice?
Margot- good luck with bringing up the name subject
AFM- today is our third wedding anniversary. H surprised me this morning by making a lovely breakfast. He never normally gets out of bed until two mins before leaving the house! We have friends babysitting tonight so we can go out for a meal. I'm hoping to squeeze in a haircut this afternoon so my hair doesn't look so scarecrow like.
The weather here is terrible, pouring down and Grey so not much outdoor activities planned unfortunately.
JT 17 weeks
08/05/2013 at 08:26
BG- good luck for your interview and how funny that H thinks you faked the kick.
MrsB- Enjoy meeting up with your friend
Daisy- I hope H sticks to the name, do you know the sex?
Margot- That does sound like a busy day, take it easy
AFM- Not doing alot today, H got made redundant from his second job yesterday but we were expecting it and not really too bothered since its not his main job. Im currently getting very excited to be going on holiday at the beginning of next month. Were going to Florida. Felt a bit sick and tired yesterday but hoping that it might be gone today, just when i think im coming to the end of the MS.
08/05/2013 at 08:29
Sorry jellytot i just missed you. Happy wedding anniversary, i love breakfast in bed!
08/05/2013 at 09:03
Bg - hope interview goes well, I think you may have mentioned it once or twice hehehehe. Could be worse when my H first felt baby C kick he asked if I had wind!
MB - have a loovely day, looks as though the weather is crap everywhere.
Daisy - We had a nightmare picking a name. Are you allowed to tell us what you have picked or are you keeping schtum?
Margot - Ambush him ASAP I ambushed H on the bus to my parents after our sexing scan hehehehe.
JT - congrats on your anniversary! Lucky you being spoiled. Weather is very grey and cloudy here too :( think those three days where our summer lol
MS - Im so sorry to hear your husband has been made redundant but as you say at least it isnt his main job. EEP I love Florida!
AFM - Well I have an appointment with the midwife today. I want to check she actually has all my details as when we previously met at 16 weeks she knew nothing about me :( I used to suffer with anxiety attacks and Ive noticed the symptoms coming back so I want to make sure they know about that too. I hyperventilate chronically so need to check I can actually use gas and air. Just silly little things but Im so scared. Most of our family history has been documented wrong and some of my details are wrong too, just doesnt fill me with alot of confidence. It sounds awful but I want to rectify all the mistakes and make sure they will actually be taking care of me not just someone they seem to have invented. Got blood tests tomorrow too as GP wants to check Im not anaemic. Im feeling very stressed atm which is doing my head in because I really had faith in the local services that I would be made to feel alot more confident. It seems to be that when I said I wanted as natural a birth as possible and to BF they have written me off as not needing anything from them and have actually stopped listening from that point on. Meh.

Busy 2nd tri thread this morning! Had everyone wet the bed!?
BG- I'm a bit nervous about starting to feel baby move in case it feels like an alien! I must have the same mind set as your H! haha. I bet it's lovely really though. Spain sounds lovely! I don't think we are getting a holiday this year as trying to get finances in order before the arrival!
MrsB- Have a lovely day visiting your friend and her LO's. It's really grey and overcast here but no rain as of yet (only a matter of time!).
Daisy- How lovely that you are set on a name! Fingers crossed your H doesn't change his mind!
Margot- Put your feet up when you are finished all of your running around, sounds like you have a busy day in store!
JT- Happy 3rd anniversary! It's our 1st anniversary the 3 days before baby is due so I'm either going to be the size of a house of we are going to have a baby! My H is the same in the mornings so I think I would have a heart attack if he managed to get up early enough to have breakfast in bed. Have a lovely day!
MS- Florida sounds lovely! Sorry about the redundancy but glad that it was his second job. Hope the sickness goes away soon!
AFM- Not a lot to report. I had a few stitch type pains yesterday but I had walked a lot on Monday so put it down to that. Had a headache last night so haven't slept the best and feeling a bit groggy this morning. I also thought it was Thursday and wanted to cry when H told me it was only Wednesday! Hopefully will cheer up as the day goes on. Hope everyone has a lovely day!
08/05/2013 at 09:10
Luna- Missed you there! Hope they get their act together soon and you manage to relax about it all. I can't imagine how you are feeling because it took me 5-6 weeks to get a booking appointment and scan sorted and that was stressing me out so you must be going around the bend! I'd talk to them and tell them your concerns and hopefully they will act on it. As soon as everything is in hand and you feel more comfortable I'm sure you will start to feel a little better. Good luck for your appointment today and let us know how you get on x
08/05/2013 at 09:12
Thanks Sam. I just sort of think if they cant get the basic info right and MY midwife doesnt even know who I am at 16 weeks despite an internal scan at 6 weeks and my normal booking in at 12 weeks thats a bit scary lol x
08/05/2013 at 09:18
Just running in to say morning all. Will pop back later to read through. Bit busy at the moment :-(
08/05/2013 at 09:39
MS- sorry to hear about your H job, at least you have a nice holiday to look forward to
Sami- hope the headache goes soon.
Luna- I would speak to your MW about your concerns and the fact they keep getting everything wrong. Tell them exactly how you are feeling. Their job is to keep a check on your physical well being in pregnancy, but also help with your emotional well being. They are the person you trust most for their knowledge and experience and they are meant to be putting you at ease during a time in your life which is unnerving and full of uncertainty for the best of us. If you tell them about your previous anxiety issues they should be even more focused on keeping you relaxed and reassured and calm each time they see you, not working you up more. If you feel you are not getting anywhere with your MW or it doesn't improve, you should call your local supervisor of midwifes ( in my handheld notes the phone number is listed with all the other useful ones at the front of the book)
After 24 weeks you do see your MW much more regularly so they will get more familiar with you then and hopefully remember who you are! But in the meantime I really would speak to either your MW or the supervisor as you don't want to end up getting more anxious.
Sorry if I have gone on a bit there, but if I was in your positions I would be so frustrated about it all and as much as we all complain about the sickness, tiredness, aches and pains etc these nine months are also a fantastic and amazing time and if it is being spoilt for you by lack of good care then the sooner you get it resolved the sooner you can put it behind you and hopefully and a trouble free pregnancy
08/05/2013 at 09:41
Gah, how are we on p2 already?!
BG - How lovely for your H to be feeling kicks, I can't wait until mine can. I think he will probably think it feels a bit strange though!
MrsB - it's pretty miserable here too which is a shame, hope you manage to entertain the LOs this afternoon.
Daisy - ooh exciting that you've agreed on a name! Any tips on how I can get my H to even come up with a sensible suggestion would be appreciated...
M - busy day for you. Nice that you're sorting your ML, do you know when you'll finish yet?
JT - Happy Anniversary! Bless your H, that's lovely, enjoy tonight :)
MS - sorry to hear about your H's job. Florida though, that's so exciting! Nice to have that to be looking forward to.
Luna - sorry that you are feeling rubbish, take it easy love. It's such a shame that your local healthcare sounds bad as well, it must be difficult if you are already anxious about things. I found a yoga teacher near me yesterday who does pregnancy yoga and birth preparation classes, it might be worth looking it to see if there's something similar in your area - all the breathing in yoga practice could help you? Hope your app goes well.
Sam - boo to having such a bad night's sleep, hopefully you will brighten up as the day goes on :)
LP - morning!
AFM - had an email back from Fill Your Pants last night from one of their Real Nappy Gurus and it's a lady I have known since I was about 5! She is coming round one evening soon to do a demo and talk me through it all which I am so excited about! I was practically bouncing around the house which confused H as I don't think he could understand what was so exciting about an item of babywear that will end up filled with poo...not sure I can explain it myself except to say I think I've got the cloth bug :) I took advantage of the Little Lamb offer someone posted about on here at the weekend so already have some on order. Nothing else much to report except that H and I tried to discuss names last night, with me trying to convince him that Matilda is lovely for a girl, which wasn't successful. Oh well!
