How is everyone today? I slept better for a change which was good. Still on half term, so trying to entertain LO in the odd weather! Not decided what to do yet today! Probably head to a park later!
Hope everyone else has a good day!

Hello, I am new to the 2nd tri, can't believe I am here!
Rhian I hope the weather stays nice for the park.
29/05/2013 at 08:22
Rhian - hope you manage to get out at some point!
V - I can't believe you're 2nd tri already, surely your BFP was only 5 minutes ago!
AFM - another good nights sleep, was soundo from 9pm, with a brief wake up at 12.30 to rescue A's penguin from down the side of the cot. Bumped into a mum from nursery, which whilst I don't mind chatting to her normally I always feel like I lose my 40 minutes to myself on the train! I even made a point of sitting on the quiet zone but that didn't shut her up! I bumped into her on Friday too (don't work mon it tues) think this is the incentive I need to get my ass out of bed and get the earlier train
Not much to report on little Bob, although even A is telling me 'belly biiiig' now.
29/05/2013 at 08:26
Oh no BG - sometimes that time to yourself is really necessary!
29/05/2013 at 08:31
Rhian - hope you get to the park
Vlvixon - hiii :)
BG - ahh man theres nowt worse!
AFM - had a really busy weekend which was good. Baby all ok. im at the midwife this afternoon for check. nothing new tyo report really....except lodger moves out this weekend so project nursery starts! wooop

Rhian, the weather has been odd! Hope you find something to do. Think we are heading to MILs and then the park too :)
V, hello! :)
Bridget, I feel like that when I see people on the bus to thw school run, I just want ten minutes peace lol. Glad you had a good nights sleep.
Afm, I'm new to 2nd tri, haven't been able to post yet! Just getting over a horrid tummy bug. Really knocked me out. Was alone with B all day too, poor thing :( Nothing to report pregnancy wise, other than have to have a third set of bloods done, both times the wrong paperwork went :/
29/05/2013 at 08:41
In a rush, off to do notes in what will be a rather uncomfortable grievance. Oh joy! Back later xxxx
29/05/2013 at 08:47
Glad I'm not alone! Might start wearing sunglasses and a hat in the hope she doesn't recognise me!
Welcome Chimpanzee, hope it's 3rd time lucky!
GL at the mw Twink
I didn't get a chance to he back on yesterday, but to answer whoever asked, I've gone for the baby jogger mini city double. I'm babysitting my friends 6 month old girl next month so can try it out for real!

Rhian- I can't keep up with the weather! One minute it's summer clothes and the next I'm dragging my winter coats out. Hope it stays dry for the park later.
Viv- Welcome to 2nd tri! I felt so strange coming from 1st tri but everyone is lovely, just get stuck in :)
BG- I hate it when I feel obliged to talk to people and I really don't want to. I used to love my little train ride to work and 20 minute walk just so I could be with myself and my thoughts. It used to really help me unwind after work too and I'd feel completely refreshed after it. I would make a point of putting headphones in and pretending to be asleep next time! haha
Twink- Hope appt goes okay and how exciting to start project nursery! Have you got any colours etc in mind?
Chimp- Welcome to 2nd tri. Grr for having to have bloods done again. Mine needed doing twice as the first time they hadn't hand written on the bottle so they wouldn't process them, so annoying!
AFM- Not a lot to report. Had a busy evening last night. My brother has given us a cot and changing unit which are both lovely (and save us some money!) so we spent the evening sorting out picking these up. On getting them back home it made me realise we really don't have enough room and everything is going to be such a squeeze when baby arrives. Made me feel quite stressed about the whole situation actually but at the minute we really can't afford to move so looks like we are stuck there a little longer :( Still no sign of baby movement (well, obviously none that I have noticed!)
18 weeks (how has this happened so quickly!?)
29/05/2013 at 08:51
Rhian- hope the weather stays dry for you at the park
V- welcome to second tri , I agree with BG I feel like it was only yesterday I saw your bfp, time is going way too fast!
BG- I would feel the same as you. A bit of peace first thing is priceless, definately worth getting an earlier train!
Twink- have you got ideas already for how you want the nursery? Do you know the sex?
Chimp- hope you're feeling better soon, welcome to second tri
LP- hope you are well
AFM- off to a drop in physio clinic about my back then meeting a couple of friends for coffee who are teachers so on half term hols.
24 hours and ten minutes until my scan eeek!
29/05/2013 at 08:53
Sorry Sami missed you there- great to get some furniture free. I wouldn't worry much about space just yet, baby will be in with you for six months anyway so plenty if time once they arrive to figure out where things will fit.
29/05/2013 at 09:10
Morning JT- good luck at physio and enjoy meeting your friends! I am feeling very jealous of all the teachers on half term at the minute (although not so jealous of them at having to cope with a class full of children every day..).
I know, I keep telling H us moving isn't something that needs sorting right this minute but after squeezing the changing unit in to H's daughters room last night I just got a bit p*ssed off with it. I was tired and grouchy as I'd had a long day so didn't think this helped matters but I just want to be all sorted so that I don't have to think about where we will be living once baby is here.
29/05/2013 at 09:29
Sam, although we did use our changer for every nappy change, and use it now to store nappies, it's not essential and plenty of people don't have them. Have you thought about a cot top changer instead?
I think whatever size house you have, it'll always feel so much smaller once a baby comes along.
29/05/2013 at 09:31
rhian - yay to a good night's sleep, makes a big difference to the day. Hope you manage to entertain your LO today.
VIvixon - welcome to 2nd tri :)
BG - ah I always hate bumping into people on the train. How are people able to hold conversation at that time of the morning?!?
Twink - hope the mw goes ok, roll on Project Nursery!
Chimp - yay, welcome to another 1st tri grad :) sorry you've had a tummy bug, that's rotten, hope you are on the mend.
Sam - don't stress yourself out about space, I'm sure it will all be fine. As JT says, you'll have the baby with you at the beginning so plenty of time to work out where everything fits best.
JT - Hope your physio app goes ok, enjoy your afternoon.
AFM - Not much to report baby wise, except still feeling some lovely kicks and wriggles. Just getting desperate for H to feel them now. There's a lot of
"ooh quick now"
*put H's hand over my belly*
"oh no, it's stopped again"
in our house at the moment! Have got my old school friend who is a Real Nappy Guru for Fill Your Pants coming round tonight to explain all about cloth nappies to me. I am seriously excited about this!
29/05/2013 at 10:03
Morning all! Managed to get up at a reasonable time today!
Rhian, hope the rain holds off so you can make use of the park!
V - welcome! It's funny how sometimes pregnancy seems to fly by!
BG - maybe faking sleep on the train is the way forwards
Twink, hope MW appt goes well - you'll have to let us know what happens in a 25 week appt. Enjoy getting started on the nursery!
Chimp - how frustrating about the bloods - as if having to have them taking isn't annoying enough, it's the extra time and so on isn't it. Incompetent fools!
LP - hope the meeting isn't too uncomfy!
Sam - getting 'stuff' makes it more real doesn't it - how many bedrooms do you have at the mo? We decided we'd sacrifice our office (which was always just a computer / printer storage area and general dumping ground!) and turn it into a nursery. The baby won't sleep in there for ages, but it's going to be useful to have a baby-dedicated dumping ground! I do panic about space which is utterly ridiculous as we have a 3-bed house. I think belongings just accumulate and expand to whatever size house you have - my parents live alone in a large 4-bed detached and it's bursting at the seems! Or maybe we're all just hoarders
JT - hope the physio appt goes well. What's up with your back? Enjoy the coffee!
Popcorn - how exciting to feel so many wriggles, I think I have an anterior placenta (according to my 11 week scan notes) and am getting impatient to feel stuff. I occasionally think I feel a little flutter but definitely no kicks or serious movement - I can't wait! Enjoy the cloth nappy introduction - we're aiming to use them too and I LOVE our stash, they are so soft and cute!
AFM - I wore my SI belt yesterday all day and my hip felt so much better, hurrah! I'm going to London tomorrow for 2 nights with my sister, quite excited - mostly about irregular choice shoe shopping, afternoon tea and Jamie's restaurant! I used my home doppler for the second time last night and timed baby's HB which was about 150bpm. It's so relaxing listening to it!
29/05/2013 at 10:20
Mrs 50s- we have a 2 bed terraced. Our room is an okay size but H's daughters bedroom isn't big enough for her things plus any baby things. We have been umming and ahhing over what to do for a while and have looked into renting our house out and us renting a bigger house but have got too much going on at the minute so think everything is going to have to wait until baby is here. The cot isn't going to get put up until baby is ready to move from a moses basket/ crib in to it so the situation may have changed by that point (fingers crossed). The ideal situation would have been for us to have equity in the house to get a loft conversion for H's daughter but this isn't an option so need to work out the next best answer. Just one of those things that we keep putting off but I know we are going to have to sort at some point.
London sounds lovely! I definitely think you need to spoil yourself with irregular choice shoes :) I keep thinking about getting a doppler but think I will attach myself to it so trying to steer clear.
29/05/2013 at 10:26
Sami- as BG said, we never had a nappy changer. We got given one off BIL when W was 16 months old but use it as a book shelf!
I always changed her on the floor.
PC- I'm sure they know when soneone us trying to feel, W used to be very cheeky like that, was very frustrating for poor H. Have fun with the nappies, it seems to be addictive from what I read on here!
Mrs 50s- I've got sciatica and am really struggling to lift W now. Not expecting there is much that can be done but I'm hoping for anything at all as at the moment I'm worried about how I'm going to manage for another 20 weeks. Enjoy London, what date is your scan it must be soon as you're not far behind me
29/05/2013 at 10:44
Sam- could you get something like this for H's daughter
Then cot and some other storage could fit underneath
29/05/2013 at 10:46
Sam, I do think you need to have self-discipline with a doppler and not be too paranoid as it can take a while to find the heartbeat! I've told myself I can use it once or twice a week, but will try and stick to each weekly marker instead.
JT - scan is on Monday, not long to wait! Currently having a dilemma over whether to find out the sex or not!
I have sciatica too, mine's caused by SPD (although the pain is very much in my left hip and left-sided sciatic pain rather than across the pelvic girdle) and I have bought a Serola sacroiliac belt. It is amazing! It wasn't super cheap (about £35 from physio supplies) but it helps stabilise the whole SI joint and I haven't had any sciatic pain since I've been wearing it. The physio said that relaxin has a surge around 14-16 weeks and slackens off all the ligaments in in pelvis. This means it can shift up / rotate / become mis-aligned (the left side of mine has lifted and rotated forwards so the sciatic nerve is over-stretched. Physio aligned me with some gentle manipulation and has given me exercises to do to try and keep it aligned, as well as wearing the belt when I need to.
