Not much to report from me, no more show or pains for a couple of days now. Have turned my attentions to names again after not thinking about it for a month. I'm just not inspired by anything though, and H is sticking to the same 2 names, neither of which I really like, so it seems a bit pointless as nothing is likely to change his mind. Hmph.
Not much planned this weekend, have a house to view today and another tomorrow. There's a local street party tomorrow too we'll try to pop into.
Baby out vibes to Noodle, although I hope they're no longer required!

BG hope the viewings go well. A street party sounds nice.
Not long until your due date. Are they letting you go a full two weeks over for VBAC? Will they induce you or if you don't start labour will it have to be a CS?
AFM , H is busy painting the kitchen and I am trying to pack my hospital bag. Unsuccessfully as I seem to have very little of what was on my list. So probably good that I've made a start on it. Will have to pop out later for toiletries and various bits I think.
Baby out vibes to noodle.
Morning BG, was just coming on to start the thread but you beat me to it! I was wondering how you are getting on with names. Can I ask which names your H is set on? We are still a little undecided after coming to an agreement months ago but I think we'll just have to wait and meet our baby now and see what fits.
Have fun viewing the houses and enjoy the street party if you go - is it for any occasion?
AFM - we are off to H's work's summer picnic today. Should be good, apparently they spend ££££s on it every year and it's pretty well known how good they are in 'city boy' circles so I'm looking forward to it, just got to cross our fingers that it stays dry, otherwise it might not be as much fun. Looking forward to meeting H's work crew as well, never really met anyone he works with before. MW appointment went well yesterday, baby isn't engaged yet (which I could have told her from the constant difficulty breathing and feeling the baby's bum in my ribs but s/he is head down so hopefully will drop soon - I'd like to get some feeling back in my rib cage please!!
Baby out vibes to Noodle, hope things start soon!!

Missed you JT - your hospital bag packing experience sounds similar to mine, I have all the best intentions but when I go to do it, I don't have everything so I give up!
07/09/2013 at 11:27
BG hope the house viewings go well! Names are so hard we still haven't decided either I'm hoping for inspiration when he finally gets here
JT I found hospital bag packing stressful as I couldn't put it all straight in as still needing it etc, any tips on things you think I def need, as it's my first time
Popcorn oh still time for baby to engage glad it all went well, have fun this afternoon fingers crossed the weather stays ok
Well still no baby, tmi had a dodgy stomach and some blood tinged mucous this morning so here's hoping something is starting! Trying to enjoy our last weekend as just us two

JT - I really struggled with my hospital bag this time. I think I'm there now though. Top tip which I wish I'd ears of last time is to put the baby clothes into sets (sleepsuit, vest, hat, scratch mitts, nappy) in sandwich bags, that way it's only one thing for H to get from the bag.
The consultant is happy for me to be induced at 40+10, I'm happy to go to +12 or +14, but he wasn't keen when I mentioned that so will have that discussion if or when it happens. It'd be a low induction though, I think just the pessaries.
Popcorn - H likes Katherine and Rachel. He had Katherine as our girls name last time, but I was never a massive fan of it before, I only really agreed to it because I really wanted Alexander as our boys name. I've massively gone off it though and he feels hard done by as he's thought for 2.5 years a girl would be called Katherine.
Have fun at your H'a work do, fingers crossed the sun shines for it!

Missed you there Noodle, that sounds promising!
07/09/2013 at 14:34
BG - good luck with house hunting. We've not really had the name discussion recently either. Think we're set on a girls name but not too sure on a boy yet.
Jelly - you're very organised, don't think I started packing my hospital bag until about 36 weeks last time and still didn't have it all ready when I went into labour!
popcorn - the summer picnic sounds lovely, enjoy!
Noodle - sounds promising!! Really hope things get started for you soon x
AFM - Husband is decorating our bedroom and i'm offering moral support. Been virtually designing our wardrobes on the ikea site too and fitting in a bit of MD at the same time!

Sorry I didn't get back to this yesterday.
PC hope the picnic went well and it stayed dry for you
Noodle sounds like you had some promising signs yesterday morning, hope things are progressing for you . As for the hospital bag, handy things you might not have packed are flip flops for the shower, a bag of coins for car parking/vending machines.
BG sorry you haven't got your name sorted yet. There's loads of time even after she arrives for you to think about it then. You may have a flash of inspiration a three in the morning during a night feed
AFM got a few more bits for my hospital bag, not much though. Need to get some sleep suits and I can't find any that I like that are relatively cheap. Got some last time from tesco and they were lovely but both asda and tesco are quite boring this time so may pop to matalan today to look there.
Also got through some more ironing of the baby clothes .
BG you will definitely think I am bonkers when I confess to ironing muslins!!!! They seem to be really stiff when they dry until I iron them and then they go nice and soft, that's the only reason. I am mad though I know for doing it!
08/09/2013 at 08:40
Step away from the iron woman!
08/09/2013 at 09:05
I'm getting a bit carried away aren't I?!
08/09/2013 at 09:19
Picnic was amazing, more like a mini festival so lots of fun. I spent a lot of time in the dessert tent eating giant jaffa cakes :) today will mostly be spent doing very little at home and catching up on strictly from last night.
BG do you like any of the shortenings of Katherine? Or is that what puts you off? I have a thing about name shortenings, we both like Charlotte for example and I like Lottie as a shortened version but really not keen on Charlie.
Oh and what's this about ironing baby clothes? Is it frowned upon? I must confess to being an ironing addict...you won't catch me with creased muslins ;) hehe.
08/09/2013 at 09:40
Giant Jaffa cakes, mmmmm
I don't mind Kate, but not really a fan of the other shortenings. Fwiw I know two Charlottes who are known as Lottie as both are always Lottie. They are only 2yo though, so may decide to adopt a different diminutive when older - which is my worry with Katherine.
Ironing baby clothes and muslins is the biggest waste of time I can think of
08/09/2013 at 10:43
I agree totally BG it us the biggest waste of time. I stand ironing H's shirts, W's desses etc knowing a week ago I ironed them, and in another week I'll be ironing them again. I hate it ! But if I don't everything always looks like its been stuffed in a ball for a month. People only iron because everyone else does. we all wore crumpled clothes no one would feel the need to iron and the world would be a happier place!
08/09/2013 at 12:52
Hehe, I am pretty sure I'll iron everything once before baby is here just to occupy myself on ML, then I'll be a lot less fussy!
08/09/2013 at 13:45
What is this strange ironing thing you speak of? I don't even iron my own clothes... when me and H moved into our current house, we had an ironing board but for some reason, no iron. We didn't buy one until we'd been here a year! I can't remember the last time anything was ironed.
BG, how have the house viewings gone? Have fun at the street party, gorgeous weather here today so I hope you have the same.
JT, I keep putting off sorting my birthing box / bag until I'm on maternity leave. I really ought to start thinking about what to put in it! If it's anything like how I pack for an overnight trip anywhere, I'll need 3 suitcases
Popcorn, festival-picnic sounds ace!
Noodle, hope things really kicked off overnight - looking forward to updates.
Banzy, I love a bit of ikea interior designing! Decorating supervision is also important... I've been supervising my H hanging a painting, a curtain rail and a blind in the nursery today. How far along are you by the way?
The 3rd tri thread seems quiet nowadays - too many people disappearing and having babies. How dare they! 4.5 days left at work. Tomorrow will be a long one as it's meetings all morning, and students' first day back in the afternoon so lots of enrolments. Tues, Weds an Thurs has students in but I'm not teaching so it'll be a bit odd. Friday we have no students and as it's my last day, we're going to prezzo for lunch. Yum!
