Good morning ladies,
sorry I didn't get on yesterday, I hope you're all well...
today is the day, I'm calling the hospital at 7am to confirm my 8am induction is still ok to go ahead. I can't sleep, which is silly as I'll need my strength but I'm scared. The whole house is silent, my H is snoring next to me and step daughter snoring in her room, and the next time I get back into this bed will be with a baby sleeping in the Moses basket next to me. I literally could cry and Im guessing that's just because of pregnancy hormones as it feels a little ridiculous to. I was discussing with my H yesterday, I feel like a failure for not having this baby naturally, for needing an induction. I know lots of women need them and have them, but I just can't help but feel sad about it. My H says it's quite the opposite, I've done such a good job she doesn't want to come out, and I get that, but I still feel like I can't even give birth to my own baby properly. It's a weird bag of emotions today I think.j don't have a pp but from what I've been told inductions can be a long process so I'll hopefully pop in and out of the thread this weekend with updates.

WW - Please don't feel a failure. You've done an amazing job and hormones do funny things to us all at he end....even those who give birth spontaneously often feel bad about some aspect of their pregnancy, labour, birth of first few days. Completely normal so please don't beat yourself up about it. Wishing you all the luck in the world for today, hope it's a speedy one for you and you're having cuddles soon.
AFM - sorry I didn't get on yesterday...a crazy day of morning shopping (hospital bag now complete!), ILs visiting and a mw appointment. All fine with baby and after measuring huge last time now measuring spot on for dates. We've a crazy busy weekend ahead - today we're visiting friends who live a couple of hours away who have just had a baby, and then tomorrow we're off to a christening a fair trek away too. Not looking forward to such long car journeys to be honest as I'm so uncomfy and suffering with swollen ankles, but know I'll be fine when I'm there.
Hi to all who follow - have a great weekend xx

WW good luck fit today. I hope they've told you to go in? Please don't feel a failure, your H is right, you've done a fab job at cooking her.
Coco that sounds like a really busy weekend, I hope it's not too hot for you. I've got cankles too, they suck !
Afm well I've had a fab week of mat leave. Plenty of naps and chilling, washed the baby clothes and blankets and had plenty of lunches with friends! :) today were just pottering, cutting the grass, maybe hanging our pictures in the nursery. Then we're going to a BBQ this evening. Tomorrow we've nothing planned. Might start properly arranging the nursery. Then i'll flash it.

Just popping in to say good luck WW. You are not a failure at all. Induction is commonplace for all sorts of reasons and you and everyone else is doing the right thing by your baby. Looking forward to hearing your birth announcement soon xxx

Best of luck for today WW, you are in no way a failure, some babies just want longer to grow than others!
Coco - hope you enjoy your weekend and have some time to put your feet up!
Imp - sounds like your maternity leave has been lovely so far!
BF - hope you have a nice weekend.
AFM - feeling very tired this morning, H has bad hayfever so woke me up snoring at 6am, which was nowhere near enough sleep seeing as we went to bed at 1am! So ended dozing on the sofa for a few hours. Today is going to be filled with dog walks, wandering around in the sunshine, maybe a cake stop, going out for a curry and maybe even (tmi!) some baby eviction action tonight! Want to meet the little one now!

Just popping on to say hi to everyone, hope you're all doing well.
WW, really good luck today lovely, I hope it all goes well and you get to meet your baby really soon. X
Coco, enjoy the busy weekend, I hope the cankles don't plague you too much.
Imp, sounds like a lovely maternity leave so far. Enjoy your BBQ.
Vix, I sympathise with the lack of sleep! Sounds like a lovely day planned though, enjoy.
Afm, things are going pretty fabulously with Violet, it's amazing how much easier I'm finding everything this time round. Sleep deprivation is still horrid, but otherwise things are good. Had a MW appt at the hospital this morning, and my chunky little monkey has put on half a pound in 2days, what a little porkster! She's current,y snuggled on my lap post feed, I should try to put her down because she'll need to be put down when H goes back to work so that I can look after J, but it's so nice at the moment to have the cuddles. However much pregnancy sucks ladies, it's so worth it. X

Afternoon ladies, H is buying me internet for the ipad abit later so will pop back for personals then.
Just as an update - 1st midwife we saw was moody, pissed off that we'd been given an 8am induction and that I was term +10, had a really rough examination followed by an excrutiating pessary. I yelped and she pulled her hand out and said 'well I hope that's in the right place'. I cried to H and said I just want to go home. I didn't want my baby to be born like that and from that process. We got moved to a ward and waited the 6 hours, then it was second pessary time... Lovely lady. Most wonderful midwife ever. She was very gentle, took her time and gave me gas and air. Night and day experience. I've had contractions all day, only mild before but I think they're ramping up abit now (2nd pessary was at 3pm). Midwife did say there is improvement to cervix but it is minimal and in her opinion we'll need a third pessary (to be given after 18 hours, so 9am tomorrow for me). Hopefully contractions carry on and we have a miracle baby in the night - you never know, stranger things have happened. Love to all xx

Oh good luck WW, I hope it's not long now until you meet your baby. What a horrible first midwife, she sounds a piece of work.

WW - you're not a failure in the slightest. Its such an emotional time for you. Sorry that the first mw was such a cow. Glad you had a nicer second one. I have absolutely everything crossed that the second one does the trick but if not, I hope the third one gets things moving quickly. Best of luck to you and I look forward to reading your BA really soon xxxx
Coco - wow you've been busy!!!! Glad everything is measuring ok now. Yay to getting your hospital bag packed too. Well done.
Imp - sounds like you've had a fab first week on mat leave. I'm so pleased. You sound so chilled and relaxed which is great. Can't wait for the nursery flashes!!!
Vix - your plans for today sounded fab - I hope you enjoyed them and I hope the plans for the 'baby out' work too!!!!
Spikey - lovely to see you. Glad everything is going so well. Enjoy those cuddles!!!
CJ - hope you enjoyed your online shopping and bought loads of lovely stuff. Hope you had a lovely time with your friend celebrating your birthday.
AFM - I've not been around at all really. Its impossible to get on during the day when I'm at work and nobody is around at night normally. However, I've now stopped for mat leave (a bit later than planned but better late than never!!!). This means that I will be a lady of leisure and able to contribute to the thread most days. Yay!!!! Baby wise everything seems to be going ok so far. I was full term yesterday but there is no sign of anything happening in the slightest so I'm just going to relax and enjoy my mat leave until Baby CA decides to make an appearance.

Imp - my H was on snoring sofa duty last night so I slept a lot better last night :)
SG - Violet is gorgeous, enjoy the cuddles!
CJ - hope you enjoyed your birthday treat.
CA - enjoy your maternity leave!
AFM - yesterday was lovely, walked the dog, had a yummy lunch, went to the beach for an ice cream (I dropped my first one but my husband bought me another!) and dipped my swollen feet in the nice cold sea :) Got my fingers crossed that last nights curry and dtd will take an effect today! Will be doing more walking and bouncing on my ball, being pregnant in this heat is not fun!
