They say every new parents is obsessed with their baby's poo…. !
T has always seemed to get blocked up and seems to struggle to go - I mentioned it to the doctor at his 6 week check and he said he sounded colicky and that it will pass when his digestive system matures a bit more. I am sure I read somewhere that BF babies can't get constipated (though I do wonder if infacol is having an adverse effect) He's now 10 weeks and still really struggling- he'll go from early morning to mid afternoon screaming and straining to get it out- when he does it's often explosive and he is instantly happy - until the next time anyway! Any advice? Will this pass or is there anything else I can do to help? I'm drinking fennel tea by the bucket load!!

Sorry lovey no advice on the BF aspect but O used to get really constipated before we got his milk sorted and then when he did go his nappies were like a sewer! Did your GP not suggest some cooled boiled water? Always worked for O and I only ever gave him maybe 1oz but it did the job.
I hope he's doing better and it's maybe just been a blip.
I can't believe there's not even a reply to this in over a day!

Ahh thanks MDD, he managed to do his business yesterday but poor little mite has been in pain again today, so think we might give the cooled boiled water a go tomorrow if it's the same again. It sounds similar to O- I dread his nappies when he does eventually go!

It definitely worked for us, it is such a shame for them. We had the added issue of O's intolerance but his nappy could honestly clear a room, it was utterly revolting!

My LO is bf & struggled to poop without warm water, we only gave it her when we knew she was due a poop (R goes every 3days at night time like clockwork haha) she was a nightmare leading up to needing to go it was the only thing that work & slightly massaging her stomach.
She is now 18weeks & goes fine by herself. Took her till about 12 weeks to do it herself.

S still struggled to poop when breastfed so it's not an exclusively ff thing. Tummy massage always helped him and still does now. Warm bath, gently cycling his legs etc all help too. I used to drink loads of chamomile tea to help him too. I use it for making up cloth wipes now though so funnily enough I've gone off the stuff...

Thanks ladies, it's good to know it's not just FF babies that get this, I was starting to think I was going mad! He seems a bit better today and funnily enough I am starting a baby massage course next week so hopefully that will help him along! I just can't believe how much of my day revolves around willing this little man to 'go'
