Hi everyone just looking for some possible remedies to a stinking cold .  Ive got a sore throat, head cold and generally feel rotten. It seems most medicines are not suitable in pregnancy, does anyone have any cures?  Thankyou in advance xx

Aww honey, you poor thing, I'm nursing a cold I got 2 weeks ago and have still got it cos I can't take the usual stuff . Instead I've used olbas oil, breathe easy nose plasters that open up your passages at night and Vicks vapour rub. initially I felt very poor and achy so took some paracetamol as well as that is safe to take in pregnancy. However I only took 2 twice as didn't really want to take it but was desperate! I'm ok now but have still got lots of snot, sorry tmi I know! Hope you feel better soon xxx

Forgot to say I'm only 6+3 so was only 4 weeks when I got my cold and kept telling my little nbeen to be sticky as felt like I was damaging the poor thing by blowing my nose so much and so hard!

Thankyou for your reply and your advice. I worry too that im putting my little one at risk, and i never realised what a long list of no nos there are in pregnancy. It sucks feeling rotten especially ontop of pregnancy sickness. I will try some paracetamol at bed time as my throat seems to flare up more then. I thought with all this warm weather we were out of cold n flu season!! Congrats on your pregnancy tho hun!xx

Thank you Hun, same to you too! I know it's rubbish isn't it! Yeah can hardly take anything in pregnancy or use anything. I get itchy skin and can't use my normal cream so gonna have to get something from the gp instead!

sounds like a plan, the paracetamol will help to ease your throat and make you sleep. I felt as though I couldn't breathe at night so tried those nose strips on someone else's recommendation, wasn't hopeful but they were a godsend!

have been drinking lemon tea too, not sure if it does anything but its nice, take care and get better soon xxx

I feel steam is the best remedy to fight back sore throat or head cold. As it is not recommended to use any type of medicine during this time. Try out above & give me further updates on your health.
