Hi, I am new to this forum and I really need some advice.
I am currently 18+3 and from week 16-17 I felt constant flutters every day, it was amazing and so reassuring. For the past week, movements seemed to decrease and now I have gone 2 days without feeling anything at all. I tried eating an ice lolly really quickly yesterday while lying down but nothing happened. I am so scared something has happened to my baby. I had a MMC in October last year and I would be completely devastated if I had to go through that again.
The only saving grace I have is that I have a Doppler at home and I can hear a faint heartbeat.
Does anybody know why the movements would suddenly stop? Do I need to go and see my midwife? I am at my wits end with worry. Sorry to go on about it :-(

If you are really worried then contact your midwife, I don't want to worry you but you may be either hearing the baby's heartbeat or the umbilical cords pulse (this sounds like a sligh whushing sound)
hope you get it sorted,

Thanks for replying Lisa. I read somewhere that if you hear the umbilical pulse then baby must be ok as it is powered by the baby, if you know what I mean? God it's so worrying x

Hi JHS041. Welcome to MadeForMums!
How are you doing? Have you felt any movements today? When's your next antenatal appointment?

hi jhs0401 I'm 17 + 3 today and I am only feeling little movement more when I sit or lay but my placenta is in the front so is acting as a cushion when baby kicks did they say where abouts your placenta is laying x

I believe because baby is still growing alot at this stage,it will have quiet days where it will rest or could be facing your back,so still moving but you don't feel it.
I didn't feel my baby move til about 24 weeks and he has quiet days where I freak out for nothing because like you said feeling movements is a reassurance but if your doppler is picking up a heart beat or umbilical cord then everything is fine
The babies kicks or movements will get stronger the more it grows, remember how small baby is right now xx

Thank you all for your replies. I have felt quite a few little flutters today, thank goodness. One thing I noticed was that the position of the baby seems to have changed. Until yesterday, I had always found the heartbeat on my left, right on my pelvic bone but then yesterday I was checking in after working myself up into a right old state all day, and it was in the middle, an inch or two below my belly button. I thought maybe this would be why I hadn't felt as much, maybe it has changed direction.
They have never told me anything about my placenta and my next appointment is my anomaly scan on 9th November. Seems a lifetime away yet.
Charrz91, thank you for your message. It reassured me a bit late last night when I read it xx

When I was expecting I was told it was unusual to feel regular movements until 20odd weeks and that I shouldn't be concerned. If you do have any worries Google count the kicks for lots more information. I personally never had a doppler as even the midwife would have difficulty on occasion picking up a heart beat due to baby's position. You also may not have felt much because of position as it will move so frequently at its size right now. I used to place a hot mug of tea on my tummy when I felt little movement and it got him going everytime (also a cold drink and biscuit and laying on my left side) xx
