Hay Girlies & Bumps,
I have my first midwife appointment tomorrow morning and just wondered if there is anything I need to ask etc when i'm there and usually what happens at this appointment?
Thanks girlies xx

Oohhh how exciting
From past experience not at a lot happens at the first appointment. She will want to take your family and personal medical history and work out babies due date. You'll probably be given your antenatal folder and get booked in for a scan
I don't think there's anything you need to take with you but I'm sure those who've had a baby more recently can give you better advice!
Is Sam going with you? Let us know how it goes

at mine i just had to fill in forms and go through family history - they'll ask you if you take drugs too! i got given a form to go and get bloods done too. i didn't get given my bounty pack (folder with lots of freebies and info in) until my 12 week scan appointment.
as for things you might want to ask, if you've got any questions it's handy to write them down first.. is helpful to get a book going through pregnancy week by week - there's quite a nice freebie one in the bounty pack and i think some of the girls were saying there's a free magazine at boots too.
hope it goes well for you xx

Well girls it went really well.
I had to have bloods taken and was given a book about pregnancy and my first bounty pack
Also I was given my date for the 20 week scan so just got my 12 week scan to look forward to now
Also the hospital has a really modern water birthing centre so think i'm gonna consider putting that in my birth plan

How things going with you?
02/01/2009 at 12:34
Feeling a bit fustrated in our 7th month of trying now. Know it takes time but its just sooo fustrating. Considering trying for a new job, would love a Deputy Headship but then keep asking myself what if I fall pregnant in the meantime etc.
How are you feeling?
02/01/2009 at 12:44
Hun I know just what you mean - we got our BFP on the 11th Month of trying!! grrrr took forever to get there! but I'm sure you'll get there soon
Maybe the promotion is a good idea - as it would give you something different to concentrate on which might help - the month I didnt think about it was the month I fell and if you get pregnant after that will be a nice little bonus
Have you thought about seeing any drs? if your still trying for a year etc?
02/01/2009 at 12:51
I agree think something else to concentrate on would be good. The job I looked at is to start in Sept though, so 8 months off!
If we are still trying at a year will deff go see the doctor, would love to go sooner (just to know either way if everything is ok) but they won't see you until you've been trying for a year.
02/01/2009 at 12:54
have you applied for it?
Might be worth just applying and then going from there
I must admit the day we got our BFP I had booked in to see the Drs - I was going to say we'd been trying for 18months so they would consider helping us with some tests i'm sure they'd be more than helpful
Have you used OVU sticks?
02/01/2009 at 12:59
Prob is I can't actually lie about how long we have been trying as the doctors have on my record when I had the coil removed. Have filled in the forms and am going to send them off for the job.
Have tried the OVU sticks but seem to have a problem with them as they never show that I actually ovulate! Tried them for about 3 or 4 months.
Thought about getting one of the ClearBlue digital monitor things as I know a lot of people have succes with them. Just worried its a lot of money to spend if that doesn't register anything as well.

oooh sarah, sorry i missed this post hun, glad it all went well and i cant wait to see piccies of your 12 weeks scan!!
big hugs hun xx
02/01/2009 at 15:43
Oh I had that problem Cheryl - I never got a peak on the OVU sticks but I've been on the CB Monitor trial and managed to get peaks on that so might be worth watching there website for another trial if you dont want to buy one.
I was surprised that I actually ov'd on CD13 which sometimes meant I missed it completely as I only put effort in from CD14 lol
Good Luck with the Job - keep me posted
Kas - thanks hun - I will makesure I post some pics

Sarah glad your appointment went well today, i bet it was exciting for you and made it all seem real. I have my booking appointment on the 13th of january so still 2 weeks to go now.
I did write a post here somewhere for you to see how you were feeling, not sure if you saw it though.
Cheryl i hope you and the other girls that are trying get some luck in the new year. You all deserve it so much. I agree with Sarah though, apply for the job and see what happens in the future. Good luck!!!
