Hope your all well. I joined this site 2 months ago and was TTC with all the tips etc reagarding ovulation i got i managed to get pregnant this month which i am so happy about .
This is my 1st pregnancy and Im a 1st time Mam.
Can anyone advise on the following i have read up and there so many different statements on them and im confused.
Is fish good for you like Cod & Tuna ?
Is 1 cup of Coffee ( instant ) ok ?
And regarding twinges , i have had a fair few this week im about 5-6 weeks now its like some dull pain and odd twinging like feeling like sharp little pain for a second then goes .. is this normal ?

1 cup of coffee / tea should be ok and tuna should be ok too - I think Tuna is recommended (approx 2 cans of tuna per week or tuna steaks are ok). Keep your distance from Cod Liver Oil thou (it comes as a vitamin supplement). Careful with raw fish (smoked salmon) and sea food. Don't eat mouldy cheese like stilton, brie or camember or feta. Chedar is ok.
I think little twinges and mild cramps are normal. My mw said that cramps were normal unless they were very painful, almost unbearable!

I will minimise my coffee to one in the mornng and thats it. As for the Tuna ill have it once a week for lunch , i have some cod for dinner im sure that is ok , like the Donegal Style in breadcrumbs
I just want to make sure i do everything i can right to give this embreyo the best chance xxxxx

hi hunim on my second pg and i agree with the above advice. mild cramping/twinges are normal throughout pg. theres a lot of stretching going on. as long as its not painful or accompanied by bleeding, you should be fine. fish in general is great during pg but limit tuna to twice a week. white fish and salmon are good to eat too. just make sure its cooked. same with other seafood. x

Congratulations. Twinges aches and pains are all normal. I am 21 weeks and still get these so get used to them as they are here to stick around. I was told by mw that all is normal because of stretching and growing. Any intense pain accompanied (which doesnt pass) and bleeding then id seek medical advice but otherwise all part of the journey!!xx

I also have twinges and also some discomfort down below which lasts a couple of seconds at a time? I am 4weeks 3 days ....
I'm not sure if I have a UTI as I need to wee a lot but sometimes it feels like I am forcing myself but the pressure feels like I need to go? Almost, like the wee doesn't want to come out?Sorry TMI! Oh and upset tummy for last week on and off - the joys!!
Anyone experience this?

Im down in the doctor at 10.30am but i think im going to be ok i took clear blue digital and i have progressed from 1-2 to 2-3 weeks see below so i have to have more HCG in my urine ,
i wouldnt worry about the pain down below i have it all the time lol read somewhere its nick named " fire crotch " lol ha ha ha

Yes needing to go for a wee even though you actually don't need to pass urine is normal I was peeing for Britain for the first 13 weeks or so (15 weeks today & starting to return to normal). A great bit of advise I was given was to lean as far forward as possible when going for a wee & it maximises the amount of wee you release so you don't have to go quite so often! Hope that helps!
Oh and like the other ladies I still get cramps & tight muscles the earlier you are the lower it is and then moves up as your baby moves from your pelvis & them you just get them all over later on!!!

Hey Bonnie, guess who got their bfp!!? I tested yesterday at 12dpo and got a really strong line after only about a minute I keep getting weird pinching feelings in my uterus, I guess its just little bean getting nice and comfy hope you're well xxx

Ah thanks girls - that's made me feel better!
So, I am being completely paranoid so called the midwife this am because after feeling like I had a UTI last night (I was literally tossing and turning and peeing the whole night) I got up and drank soooo much water and weed a lot then decided I would do another test it was BFP - but was much lighter than the one I did on wed with my fmu - I got totally worried that this meant I was going to miscarry - midwfie reassured, me she said urine diluted, a positive is a positive and all these horror stories are not worth reading because it's more normal to have a good pregnancy - that made me feel better .... I think??!!! It's still a defo line but I have had slightly darker!!?? GRRRR I am driving myself insane"!!!
I defo have synptoms not so much sickness but off, back ache, cant sleep but exhausted etc tec!
I like the leaning forward when weeeing trick - I will try that!!!

you HAVE to relax im only back from Doctors he confirmed my pregnancy and dated me 5-6 weeks
He told me any stress or anxiousness will only cause harm to relax fully as when ur up to 90 your body tells itself maybe not ready to carry this baby he was really adament on relaxing and stop over analyizing things so please Minnie relax now and enjoy

And I ditto to all the above- although you can get the same nutrients from other sources as fish, so although fish is good, it isn't essential. BUT stay away from fish that may contain mercury- such as swordfish. I think its deep-sea fish , but as I don't eat fish, I didn't pay too much attention to it. It might be worth looking up?
Definitely relax- you're doing everything right and as long as you're not taking recreational drugs/smoking/drinking alcohol- there's nothing more you can do. I'm totally against all this "bad luck" from doing anything baby-related before or in early stages of pregnancy! Enjoy it- I wish I had realised earlier in my first pregnancy that, although you might be able to have subsequent pregnancies- you will never have your first one again- that wondrous time of enjoying lie-ins and time alone with your hubby, that special first-time planning. The second time will (I hope!) be special and exciting, but very different!)
