Hi all, I am 22weeks + 1 day but I still have not felt baby move at all. Everything went well on out 20 week scan, I was told my placenta is at the front so it might take longer to feel. Has/is anyone experiencing this, when did you feel baby move? I try to stay still and relax and see if I can feel anything but I haven't felt anything. Not flutters or anything I've noticed.

Hey hun, it is very common when you have an anterior placenta (at the front) for a lot of movement to be cushioned and like you say take longer to feel things. I've not had one personally but from what I gather from those that have it does take a fair bit longer. Especially if this is your first baby as flutters in particular can be missed if you don't know what you are looking for. Try having a cold drink and laying on your left side to see if this helps. I know it's hard not to worry but you will soon be feeling your baby xx

Thank you so much, yes first baby so even if I felt flutters I guess I don't know what I'm looking for. Thanks again x

Hi newmummytobe, I have an anterior placenta like you, and this is my first baby. I'm 25 weeks now and I think I did start to feel the baby a bit later than most people. I felt flutters and pops (but not that frequently) but not proper kicks, then I started to feel proper kicks but not that often. At about 21 weeks I started feeling faint movement every day but I wouldn't worry if you haven't yet as it depends on other factors too, like how high or low the placenta is or whether it's to one side.
I feel movement every day now (and stronger movements some days) but it's so variable, much more so than people with posterior placentas from what I can gather. I read somewhere that if you haven't felt movement by 24 weeks to let your midwife know. You've got plenty of time though. Just be reassured that the baby is moving away in there! At my last scan, mine was moving so much but I really couldn't feel a thing because of the placenta being in the way.

Hi, thank you. Yeah I think I need to relax and wait it out a little while longer, if not can always go see my midwife. Thank you for your reply. Congrats and good luck with baby x
