I've just been moving all O's 0-3 month clothes out of his wardrobe and putting his next size in and I noticed that the guidance weight on the 3-6months is up to 18lb and the 6-9months is 20lbs, seriously 2lbs a difference? Do they have a huge slow down in weight/growth over this period? i had a look at some of the clothes and tshirts/tops look basically the same?

It does slow down, yes. My little guy is in a mix of 9-12 and 12-18 at 14 months and weighs just under 22lbs. I get him weighed much less frequently now. It always feels like he puts no weight on at all, but he's sticking to roughly the same line on the chart.
A's weight gain has slowed but he still keeps getting longer and longer! To me, 3-6 tops look pretty similar but trousers, dungarees and sleepsuits seem much longer. He moved into 6-9 at 4 months and it all fits him perfectly at the moment so I hope weight gain does stay steady as I can't face moving him to 9-12 just yet!

Thanks ladies, I thought it was strange!
I've hung up all his 3-6months and the tshirts and some bits from 6-9. The sleepsuits are a lot longer, although one wash and tumble from me and they will all shrink anyway lol!
TT is that' because he's long? Thats O just really in his 3-6months now, well since about 17weeks but he seems to be running in line with clothes sizes per his due date! I look at 9-12month stuff and can't ever imagine him being the size to fit it, but then I thought that about the 3-6!

Yes mostly because he has really long limbs especially! He's almost the full length of his changing mat now! But until recently he was also between the 75th and 91st centile for weight (he's dropped down one now) so he is generally big.

F is in 3-6 comfortably at 17 weeks. No way will he still be in them in 5 months. He too is really long! Hoping he stops growing so much soon!

I think it also depends on the brand of clothing. I've said this before but I think that clothes should be labelled with weight rather than age as my 26 month old is only just in 12-18 months clothes (& a few 9-12 months) but a few are a little babyish.

My 3 yo nephew is currently in 18-24 month next shorts, same size as his 1 yo brother! Sorry, not really to do with the OP, but I thought it was ridiculous!

Tesco clothes always come up small on A. I can't get my head around the differences at all!

The sizing is truly bamboozling! F is nearly too big for mothercare 0-3 yet Next 0-3 swamps him and he isn't even wearing those yet. Its so frustrating!
MDD, can't believe your O is getting so big *sob*

I think I must have just shrunk everything to one size as I didn't notice a difference between mothercare or next etc. the only one I noticed he was growing out of (and thought I had to up to 3-6 was asda stuff but then I noticed they were up to 12lb as opposed to 14lb from next.
I know he's growing up quick! Although still a wee smudge though given he didn't go into 3-6 until he was about 17weeks! Same with F, I can't imagine him in 0-3, I picture him in tiny newborn clothes!!
