Hi all, I'm a new member on this forum after discovering two days ago that I was pregnant!
My period was late but I tend to have irregular periods due to surgery last year for fibroids and slight endometriosis on one of my ovaries. I've been suffering nausea, lower back discomfort, what feels like ovarian discomfort and some pain down my side and thought I'd look up online as my partner and I have been trying for a baby. After getting feedback that I may be pregnant, I took three pregnancy tests (I couldn't quite believe the first) which all confirmed the news.
I'm now all the more concerned by the pain I'm getting. Further research has told me that this can be a sign of an Ectopic Pregnancy though I haven't been suffering from shoulder tip pain, something I hear is a major symptom. I'm unable to see my doctor until next week Tuesday but just need to know if this is something I should be worried about or if I have scared myself with the power of Google!
Did anyone else experience the same thing during the first 4-5 weeks of pregnancy and do I have reason to worry? All responses will be greatly appreciated!

hi nadine welcome to made for mums
i'm zoe and i'm mummy to charlie who is 2 yrs old
when i look and think back to those first few weeks i can remember experiencing pain like period pain and even bled a little which made me think i wasnt even pregnant and that it was just the start of my monthly period but when the bleeding only happened 1 day and then nothing else happened (as in period being late) i took 2 tests and couldnt believe i was pregnant, charlie wasnt planned as me and his dad had only really started a relationship but we wouldnt change him for the world
i was told by friends and midwife that the pain and bleeding that i experienced was implantation bleeding where baby attaches itself to a place in the womb, i also had extremely sore boobs from the word go and continued to get period pain feelings throughout the first few weeks but dont forget it can be your body getting ready for the amazing changes that you are about to experience
my friend is expecting her first baby and she has had quite a bit of pain on and off from the word go but so far so good everything is fine and she is now 22 weeks and just had her 2nd scan, try and relax a little hunny and try not to look up too much stuff on the internet although it can be helpful at times i find it can also cause un-needed stress, if you are anxious about not being able to see your doc till next week maybe re-ring the surgery and see if your appointment can be brought forward at all, but otherwise i would say try and relax hunny
congratulations and always around for a chat take care

i have 4 children and with each one i got pains. the midwife said it was my womb stretching, i also thought with my first that the baby had started to grow in the wrong place. i have 4 healthy children, and no complications in any of the pregnancies.
welcome to the site, and congratulations on your pregnancy.

This is why I signed up to MadeForMums. My partner and I have not told anyone other than our mothers of the pregnancy as it's very early days and I have a history of gynological problems. Being able to ask questions on here and receive helpful and reassuring responses is amazing, especially when I am such a worrier. Thank you both Zoe and Audrey1

I didnt have pain down one side when my uterus was growing. When it was growing it was all over normal "period pains but without the cramping"..so this one side pain I would also be very concerned. Contact your local hospital with maternity section and speak to them about your concerns, they should be able to book you in for a scan to check everything is where it should be with the baby!!!
By 10 weeks pregnant that is when things rupture. If you have gone past that point then its not eptopic.

ive had aches and pains all the way through (im 23 weeks now) i called our local labour ward after a few weeks because they were quite severe and id had the coil taken out so me and my partner could have a baby..... (the coil can cause eptopic pregnancies) but all was fine just one of the unlucky ones who gets every single little pain lol
