You wont get maternity pay unless you've been with your employer for over a year, but you get paid maternity pay from the government instead, speak to your midwife when you see her and she will give you all the relevant information. Also if you are claiming income support, jsa, or a few other benefitd you can get a maternity grant at around 30 weeks ago to help buy things for baby - I think its around 500 pounds. After the baby is born you will get child benefit which is 20.80 a week and child tax credits which vary depending on your joint income. You can wait until after the baby is born and get yourself on the council list, they should get you a decent place fairly quickly if only 1 of you is working and you have a child. This is all assuming you live in the uk of course? Xx
