Hi Ladies

Due to previous recurrent mc's my GP wrote to the recurrent mc clinic to ask for an early reassurance scan for me. They rung up today and I have a scan booked for next Friday when I'll be 6+1 going from ovulation (6+3 from LMP).

Has anyone had a scan around this time and if so what could you see?

I had a scan at 6+5 so a few days after you and I could see a bit of a blob on the screen and this thing flickering away. i culdn't believe it when the sonographer said it was the heartbeat.
So pleased they're giving you an early scan.

hiya i have had a few early scans in my last pregnancies as i used fertility drugs to get pregnant and they had to check everything was ok.
with my first baby a heartbeat was clearly seen as well as the pregnancy sac. with my 2nd baby i went on the friday and they could only see a sac so they werent sure if it was a baby.....had to go back on monday when i was closer to 7 weeks and there was a heartbeat..yay!!
im not tryin to worry/scare you but didnt want you to think there is always a heartbeat at that geatation as all baby's develop at different rates.

Im so glad you have a scan hun. Cant help with time as mine was 10 + 4 but really pleased they have given you a scan. Now you have something else to work on getting to...and then ill be awaiting your twin post! Sorry!

Even if you dont see a hb, im sure theyll be able to tell you if your dates are about right and bean is growing. Also, if they dont find a hb as youre a little early, then theyll have you back for another scan later so either way you'll see it. Wishing you luck for tomorrow also, as hoping you get the results you deserve xxx

At 91/2 weeks i could see a heart beat but not much else. It was a very quick scan though!! Have you considered it might be an internal scan that early (colloquially know as dildocam!)

I had mine at 8 weeks but they reckon I was closer to 7 (I disagree though!)
You should see a heartbeat but don't be disheartened if you don't as it usually starts around 6 weeks but at 6+1 it could still be a little early.
I'm with Ems though, it will most probably be dildocam! Fantastic for losing your inhibitions! sxx

thats great you get a scan!!

I had one at 6.5 (i think) and you can see a small (hate to say this word) 'blob' with a white flicker - which is the hb.

I have been thinking this over since she rang and trying to decide whether to change it to the week after or not but I THINK we'll just go ahead and if we see a hb on that day then bonus, if not then I'll try and get anotehr scan for the following week and not worry too much as like you all said it may be a little early. At least it will tell me if things are progressing correctly so far.

And girls, I am well used to dildocam!! Have had many internal scans over the last year.

Hey sweetie, am very pleased they are scanning you early. it is worrying and scary, but it's also good to know what's going on in there. I had one at 6+2 and externally they could see the sac and the feotal pole and then they went in! And from there they could see a heart beat, for a while I couldn't see it, it's about as big as a pixel on the screen and just flickers.

Have everything crossed for a lovely, reassuring scan for you next week xxx

i had a scan at 6+5 due to previous MCs. my bladder was so full i couldn't really concentrate but i saw our little bean, and the sonographer said there was a heartbeat there, then i had to run to the loo as i was in agony!

Aww mrs_e, that scan pic is just so cute!

I haven't had a scan before 12 weeks NN so can't be of any help there but just wanted to say that I'm so pleased you'll be getting an early scan and I hope it helps to put your mind at rest a little bit. Let us all know how you get on!

i had my scan on monday just gone was 6+1 and there was my bean with heart beat x

I had a scan at 6+5 and we saw the heartbeat too. Good luck NN!

Hey hun, I had a scan at 5 weeks and could just see a sac and yolk sac but nothing more. Was scanned again the following week at 6 weeks and could see a little "blob" with the tiny flickering heartbeat on the screen. Don't worry if you don't see much though hun, they will get you back for another scan, some people don't see the heartbeat until nearer 7 weeks.

I had a 6 week scan yesterday and saw the sac with the heartbeat and yolk. I had one a week ago and could only see the sac so this one was really reassuring.

It's great to hear everyones different experiences and especially those that didn't see a heartbeat at early scan but have still gone on for everything to be ok!

Not quite so worried anymore about that part!
