I've been feeling a bit off for about a week. I had a sore throat are aching muscles but I didn't think anything of it really. Yesterday I woke up and my throat was so swollen and so were my glands. I was really concerned that I might have toxoplasmosis because I have cats so I went to see the doctor. She has done some blood tests to rule out toxoplasmosis but she thinks its more likely to be glandular fever (results could take a couple of weeks). Has anyone else had this during their pregnancy? I'm not really sure how to cope. As far as I'm aware the only painkiller I can take is paracetamol. I've checked and I'm allowed up to 8 per day but these are only just taking the edge off the pain and the affects don't last long enough. Anyone have any tips on coping please?

Thankfully I'm all better now but im afraid there wasn't anything distinct about the the sore throat itself, it felt like a normal sore throat until one morning where I woke incredibly swollen and barely able to speak. If you have got glandular fever you'll definately get swollen glands and a high temperature so keep an eye out for those! If you do think you have it see your doctor for confirmation as you need to be kept an eye on. It's not dangerous for baby but in very rare circumstances you can suffer from liver problems which could be problematic. Certainly get help if you develope a rash.
Fingers crossed you're just under the weather though as there isn't much in the way of treatments for glandular fever.
Hope you feel better soon x
