Hi ladies. I am 11 weeks pregnant on monday and at 9 weeks I had a bleed which worried me so much.
Prior to this, I was working in the laundry at work which involves heavy lifting and pulling. I informed my supervisor at 7 weeks and all she told me was to be careful. She said they won't do a risk assessment until i am 12 weeks as "anything can happen". Charming! Anyway on the sunday It was so busy. I was on my feet all day, my head hurt and my body ached from the lifting and pulling of the laundry bags that are so overfilled. That night I had a scary bleed and had a scan and all was well however I won't know until my 12 week scan. I put myself on bed rest for a week and it has subsided, but midwife wrote a letter stating I mustn't do any lifting and to go on light duties. So that means back to housekeeping which is better for me bodywise.
I gave the letter to the supervisor who stated that there's nobody else trained to go in the laundry and i need to go in there but just be very careful.. I refused to. The next day I just done housekeeping then another supervisor said why am I not in the laundry, I explained why and she said thats not an excuse as I am rotered to go in there. Again, i said I am not doing it.
Manager came to me and told me to go in there. I refused and said there's a letter clearly stating i cannot lift any heavy objects. The other supervisor went in there and was very angry. Manager told me that we need to have a meeting as I did not do what was asked of me. I'm not worried at all but what will this meeting mean and what are my rights?

This is acas they support workers rights and are the main people to get involved. I suggest you get your Doctor to sign you off sick if your company cannot allocate you light duties or an assistant
