Ladies, Our lovely Sparkly Tyke brought into the world a beautiful baby boy last night – he was delivered by emergency section almost 8 weeks early, weighing in at a dinky 3lbs 5oz. Most of you are aware that he was diagnosed in utero with congenital heart disease, but he has some complex issues with his digestive system, requiring surgery so it is an extremely nervous time for both ST and her partner. Baby has been a true fighter from the off, and I am sure he will continue to be a little trooper and will get through this. As soon as I have any more news I will let you know. For now, I am sending every vibe I can muster to a very special family, you are in my thoughts and prayers. xxxx

Thanks ladies for the vibes and kind words - it means so much to us and truly has helped us get through the past few days. And a huge thank you to Claire for keeping you all updated and for being only a text away.
I'm very happy to say that his first operation on Thursday afternoon was a success - his food pipe wasn't fully connected when he was born so the surgeons had to go in and connect the two ends together. This was made a little more complex by the structure of his heart being that bit different to normal so they had to work around that, which meant it took longer than normal and we were getting very nervous by 8.30pm when we still had no news. He was back in SCBU just after 9pm though (still only 22 hours old!) and it was a relief to hear it had gone well. Since then he's been kept heavily sedated so that everything has chance to knit together and heal without risk of him wriggling and undoing it, but he's been doing really well and the plan is to let him wake up today and take him off the ventilator and see how he goes. He was allowed to wake up a little last night and watched my every move as I was changing his nappy - no pressure there then! It's not a particularly easy task changing a tiny bottom in an incubator whilst navigating around various tubes and wires, and having a tiny pair of eyes on me just made me more nervous haha! I think he was happy with the job I did though.
We're so proud of our little man, he's been through such a lot already and there's so much more to come, but we're all being amazingly well looked after and we have complete faith in everyone that is involved in his care. I'll try to post a picture of his handsome little face later on xx
