I had my 12 week scan yesterday.
Baby was fine & to start with, moving around, waving etc..
Anyway, after a couple of minutes 'she' went to sleep. She was lying towards us.The woman needed to wake her up to so certain measurements could be taken as she was facing us & needed to be on her back so the woman started to wiggle the thing inside me. Due to bad visibility I had to have an internal scan.
So she suggested I go off & have some caffeine, so I went off & had a coke & a choc bar. Went back in but she was still asleep & facing us. She made me bounce my bottom up & down on the bed but she didn't even stir. So I was told to go for a brisk walk.
I came back with my pulse racing but still she didn't wake.
In the end i suggested turning on my side & although baby still didn't wake, the woman was able to do the measurements etc she needed.
The heart was beating throughout but why didn't she wake up?
I am now more worried than if I hadn't had the scan!

    Has anybody else experienced this?
    Xx
    Thanks. xx

I had a similar thing at 20 week scan. Baby just didn't want to show her face. The sonographer had me bounce my bum up and down on the bed, wiggle from side to side and get up and bounce up and down. Baby still didn't move so like you I got sent out to have a walk and a caffinated drink and although I felt her move when I got back she still wasn't in the right position.

If there was anything wrong I'm sure the sonographer would have picked it up and mentioned it to you while you were there.

Don't worry! At my 12 week scan I had similar issues, so I wasn't able to have a nuchal scan - and the sonographer left my stomach in pain from jabbing at me!

Everything is fine with my baby, it is now a real mover and I can only think that s/he started off a bit lazy!

    Hiya, please don't worry!
Our boy was fast asleep at his 12 week scan, didn't move a muscle the whole time - apart from his little heart going! Sonographer had me rolling around on the bed, jumping up and down and all sorts but he wouldn't wake up. She told me not to worry at the time, he must just be really comfy - although i couldn't help myself and did worry until i felt him move at about 18 weeks - i think it's only natural to.
I'm now 23 weeks and he's a right wriggly thing! My 12 week scan was in the morning, and now i can feel him moving i've discovered he does like his lie-ins (like mummy!) as he doesn't really start kicking until the afternoon.

Like the others said, don't worry! My baby was asleep at the 12 week scan. The sonographer had a good view but had difficulty getting the measurements as baby was all curled up in a ball! Finally he/she stretched out a bit to allow her to quickly get the measurements.

At the 20 week scan baby was awake and wriggling about all over the screen xx

P.s you could try having a cold fizzy drink and some chocolate just before your next scan as I've heard this can help to wake them up - I did that before my 20 week scan
