I've started looking at baby bouncers or swings. I'm not sure what would be best. What do babies like?
Can you tell me/show me what you've got and whether you'd recommend it?

We have the woodsy friends bouncer, heard good things about it and managed to get it for £26 in an Argos sale. T likes it, the vibrations send him off to sleep. We haven't put batteries in the other bit yet, mean mummy! Ha.

We also bought the Woodsy Fisherprice bouncer and were very happy with it. OB the tune is mega annoying but they seem to love it!
When looking into it, it seemed a bouncer was preferable over a swing as it can easily be moved about room to room and carried up and down the stairs. That's definitely the case if you just get one, and the bouncer was fab for transporting around, and even taking with me to my Mums etc. However once he arrived, we ended up buying a swing as well, second hand for £10, which was a really good buy. It was a Fisherprice Rainforest one or something, and we kept it in the kitchen diner. It was great for when we were eating and he would sleep quite well in it too. So though I didn't intend to get both, I actually wish I'd bought the swing from when he was newborn, think we got it when he was around 12 weeks old. It depends how much room you have at home as well, but if you have the space, a bit of variety definitely worked well for my LO!

I have the mothercare loved so much chair, which I would not recommend as R is quite strong & she tries to lift herself up, the straps are not very secure & the chair is quite high. R is now 4.5months & I've had to stop her going in it since just after 3months. I have to use the donut & playmat now.

We've also got the woodsy bouncer and S really likes it. At first he just stared at the toys, then enjoyed me pulling them to activate the noise, now he pulls them himself so we are getting our moneys worth out of it!
He's not fussed by the vibration on it though - he's not the kind to fall asleep anywhere other than his cot or pram though! He did go through a phase of dozing in his starlight swing from m+p but he's outgrown that now. Glad I only bought that 2nd hand.

We have the fisherprice luv you zoo bouncer which O loves! He 'talks' to the giraffe for ages when he's in it and loves the toys and bouncing away himself. I have to say though that he wasn't really fussy for it when he was little it's only since he was maybe 3months that he wanted to sit in it.
We also bought the Sweetpeace Graco cradle swing when O was a few weeks old as he was having do much bother with his reflux/colic/milk issues he would only sleep being held or in the sling and it got great reviews as it swings in 4 directions and is similar to how you would rock your baby yourself. It was a god send in the early days as he would fall asleep in it for a good hour or so at a time while it was swinging away. He will still go in it now but he's more interested in playing with the toys and looking in the mirror and isn't to bothered for it swinging. It's still great to keep him safe and up off the floor at times though. The seat part also comes off and rocks if you put it on the floor on its own so I use this if O is awake when I go in the shower as I put him in the chair and he will rock back and forward on the bathroom floor and spin the toy thing on the bar.
If I only had one, early on I would have said the swing but now it would be the bouncer chair.
