Has anyone got any ideas? I asked about weekends away on hitched and got some great ideas but still a bit lost with it all.
We need a couple of days away in September. Not too far from Cheshire and reasonable. We thought about a spa weekend but neither of us is really excited by that. Normally we would go somewhere like a cottage with good walks but I will be fairly hefty by then so that doesn't appeal either.
Does anyone have any ideas?

I honestly would recommend a spa weekend.
We did it when I was pregnant with W. we went to Oxford and the plan was to spend the day walking around there but after about two hours I was shattered so we left and went straight to the hotel and then didn't leave all weekend! Had an amazing massage, nice relaxing swim, lovely evening meal, drinks in the lounge etc. very relaxing and exactly what I needed. I would absolutely love to do it again this time but unfortunately money and childcare do not permit

How about the Lakes, Keswick or Ambleside offer shorter flatter walks, but also lovely shops to mooch around?
Or if you like music, Bingley festival is reasonable and not hectic like larger festivals, primal scream and wonderstuff are headlining. If you stayed nearby you could also visit Ilkley or around there.
Northumberland is lovely for short walks, lovely beaches etc, not sure how long that would take from Cheshire though.

I'd second the idea of Bingley festival if you're a music fan. I'm biased cos I live close by but there is Otley Chevin for walks (some proper 'path' walks and other more off road affairs). Plus there is the Chevin Lodge who do lovely spa style treatments. www.crerarhotels.com/.../chevin_hotel Ilkley isn't far from Otley - 10-15mins by car. Leeds is 20minutes by train (station a short taxi ride away) or Harrogate is 20minute car journey.

What about centre parcs, we are going in October for a last weekend away for a while!

I'm undecided atm! OH is working & the dog is a bit special needs about being left so would either be able to only go for half a day or get someone to pop in a couple of times which could get expensive.... I live in Otley, hence my bias, so not too far away! :)
Apologies from me too LP :)
