My lower back is sore after a day at work and at night and I'm only 19 +4 . I know lots of you will have suffered this, I was just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to relieve it a little? I'm an infant teacher so think sitting on the floor and little seats isn't helping much but it seems to be in bed that it really hurts xx

    Hi hun,

I swear by my electric heat pad! If my back gets achy at night i just sleep with the pad on, it automatically switches off after 90 mins so it lets me get to sleep then if i wake up later i can turn it back on. I also use it on my hips when they get really achy,

Try a bath and take some paracetemol, that might help it a little as well.

    Hope it eases up soon!

It's def the little seats and chairs. Have you had your risk assessment? I would suggest a wheely stool that you can sit on at the kids height and move around the tables without getting up and down. You might feel daft but it will save your back! Be careful!

I don't know if I've had RA? Problem with my class is that we are active learning so don't do much work at desks, will ask if i can borrow a computer chair though, that might help. Ladybird I will look into the heat pad too, sounds fab!

    Hiya Jellytots,

My furry hot water bottle has been a lifesaver and several times I've gone to bed with it tucked under my lower back

Also the best stretch for me was to sit on my knees (bum on heels) then stretch arms straight in front as as far as possible (knees hip width apart to allow for lardy belly!)

    Hope your back improves....

Oh i forgot you said you used a lot of active learning. Thats a hard one! Just be aware of how you are moving. It seems in teaching you need to ask for a RA even tho they should initiate it. Worth asking about.

I had a bad back before pregnancy and now it's even worse... I stretch every morning for 5 mins it doesn't take long and actually really helps. I have also just started pregnancy yoga and this is an expensive option but I couldn't live without, every 2 weeks i have a specalised massage lady come to the house to do pregnancy massage on me. It's heaven! and I would defo recommend it!

Jellytots, I'm in the same boat as you. I'm 17 + 5 and every evening I find it hard to get comfortable because of my backache. I've started using a pillow in the bottom of my back to try and give a bit extra sypport whilst sitting.
