Opinions on these names please?
Also would you use Isabelle/Isabella and shorten it or just go straight for the shorter version?
We have Abigail who is always Abi and Logan already.

I think for me I'd go for the longer name so they have more options when older. I like longer names with shortenings despite my son having a four letter name!

That's my thinking Isis, also think it goes better with Abigail but S isn't keen on the longer versions but loves Belle.

What about anabelle shortened?

I'd go with longer versions. I love the shortenings :)

I'm keen on longer names with shortening. Like Isis, I like that it gives them options as they get older.
I prefer Isabelle to Isabella, for no real reason. Maybe because I'm English and the only Isabellas I can think of off the top of my head are Mediterranean.

Isabelle and Isabella are beautiful names but we have a cat called Isabel so I think they're out for us :(

I have an Isabella who I only call Isabella but my H and the older two will sometimes call Issy. However her twin only ever calls her Bella and she refers to herself as Bella. Its not a name I really considered and I am not that keen on it, mostly because I love Isabella! My sister has her name shortened and she says always pick a shortened name that starts with the same letter as your actual name!! It drives her mad when people put Mrs L.*** when actually it should be Mrs E.***

I have an Isabella and used that version as we have Mediterranean connections!!
She is always Isabella never Izzy or Bella though am sure that will change as she goes to school etc. She does have nicknames but not shortened versions of her name.
I agree, give them the longer name even if you don't plan to use it then they have more options if they want when older.

I agree giving a longer name is a good idea, gives options in the future. I also think heartnurse has a point about the start letter thing.
there are a lot of Bella's around at the moment (twilight related possibly?)
Love isis' suggestion of anabelle. I prefer isabelle to Isabella I think.

Love the name. Would have it on my shortlist but my surname has too many Ls for it to work.

Does Annabelle make you think of the doll?
09/09/2013 at 07:59
it doesn't for me but my daughter is only 16m so we're not at the doll stage yet!!

I prefer Bella and/or Isabella for some reason. Far too many Isabelles around. I have an Annie and nearly have her Annabelle as a full name but it's not really 'us' and it's a bit of a mouthful with our surname anyway. Doesn't stop us using it as a nickname though!

I loike it and I would go with the longer name and then shorten it. I like Bella but thats because my Nan was known as Bella (she was an Isobella)

i really like Belle x

We have both an Isabella and a Bella in the family! Isabella has never had her name shortened, which is maybe a good thing seeing as there's a Bella.
For me, Bella is a nn for Isabella whereas Belle is a name in its own right, IYKWIM?

I love Bella. P's middle name is Isabella, it's beautiful and i sort of wish we'd not used it so we could have used Bella for another one. Oddly i like Bella by itself but not as a shortening for Isabella.
