Hi. Day 12 here and despite feeding #1 for 13 months with no issues, I'm really worried I may have a problem and that its the dreaded M-word.
yesterday I rejoiced in being able to have a 30 min nap lying on my side. After EMCS that took weeks so I was pleased to be able to do it already. We went out and I gave a feed with a dress on, but didn't get full boob out. I did feel a bit sore later. I also felt generally crap after having only breakfast and a slice of cake and then no sandwich until 4pm. I probably didn't drink enough either.
ff to today and its still sore/red. It doesn't feel especially lumpy and I have massaged It. Baby pretty much drains all on a feed. It's underboob bit so hard to massage whilst feeding. I've not work a bra today in case it helps. Also had some paracetamol and ibuprofen.
if it was a blocked duct etc, would it stay red/bit sore after dislodging? Yes it's red and sore, but doesn't feel so painful as it would make me want to curl up and die iykwim?
i have taken a pic so I know I'm not going mad, but don't want to upload it unless I have to - currently waiting on a feed so I'm a bit leaky in the pic, lol.

If it's red and sore I would treat it as you would mastitis.
Before feeds apply a warm compress (disposable nappies are briliant for this!! They stay warm for ages) and massage the area. Then feed from the sore side. If baby wants more offer the other side, if not, then express to comfort on the not sore side. Try expressing gently after feeds too to make sure that the area is completely drained.
How is your latch? I'd try and get it checked out even if you think its ok, as it can generally be improved!
There is a great leaflet on the breastfeeding network site. Link here:
Hope that helps.
