Hi, with my second child I gave birth on my living room floor after 23 minutes of established labour! Is this the sort of story you wanted?!
I started having contractions at 5 am on Sunday 4th May 2008. I was not aware of what it was like to start on my own as I was induced with my Son due to Pre-eclampsia. I did not realise it was the real thing until about 1pm (Previously I had three false alarms). I was told that the contractions had to be 5 minutes apart and lasting 1 minute before I was to go into hospital.
At 3pm I called the hospital to let them know I had started but the contractions were irregular. I was told to have a bath take paracetamol if the pain got worse but I was told I would be ages as I was 14 hours with my Son. On a scale of 1-10 (1 painless) I was on a 2-3. At 4pm my Son was collected and I had a bath. at 5pm my Mum and sister turned up to see how My Husband and I were getting on. The contractions were still irregular swaying from3 minutes apart to 15 minutes and were only lasting about 15-25 seconds. Again the pain was only a 3. At approximately half past 5 I had a really strong contraction which sent me running to the toilet. The pain went from 2/3 to a 9 and I felt desperate to go to the toilet. We called the hospital who told me to make my way in but still told me not to rush!
From this moment on things were a bit hazy but basically I got in the car, got out the car, put towel on the seat got in again, got out by my sister pulling me. Ran to the toilet and mid contraction I pulled the radiator off the wall (No lasting damage was done). At this point my Mum realised that the feelings I was getting regarding the toilet was actually me getting ready to push (Again I had none of this as was induced and had an epidural the first time).
At this point my Mum got my Husband to call an ambulance. The quick response turned up within 5 minutes of the call, got me on the floor, asked lots of questions then informed me that when the ambulane arrived I would be whisked to the NEAREST hospital (which was not the one I was with)! He examined me again and then grabbed my BRAND NEW dressing gown and put it underneath me. Within 5 minutes and 5 pushes my daughter was born on my brand new dressing gown, on my brand new carpet, in my brand new house with NO curtains shielding us from our neighbour!
My daughter arrived just as the ambulance did and with no midwife. The paramedics were not allowed to cut the cord so we had to call a friend who is a midwife as my hospital could not get one that quickly. Therefore my daughter lay on the floor (cord very short) waiting for our friend to turn up.
AThe most wierdest thing was my whole family (father, sister x3 and niece) then turned up whilst I was still on the floor with daughter attached and sat opposite drinking tea whilst I gave birth to the after birth. Oh and no one gave me a cup of tea!
Hope this has been entertaining for you. It will make on hell of a wedding speech!

I used Natal Hypnotherapy for both my births - George was born at home in an original bpiab - which had cartoon fish all over it and I then saw up for sale in a toy shop not long after as a paddling pool!!! I was so relaxed with the Natal hypnotherapy second time round that I nearly didn't bother to call anyone when my waters borke - but was glad I did when I gave birth just under three hours later - he was born in the bath!!!!

I gave birth on christmas day. What makes it extra special is that my partners birthday is christmas eve and my brother-in-laws boxing day. We were actually in the pub celebrating my partners 21st birthday when my labour started.
I arrived at hospital at half 12 and had my little girl, Maddison Theresa Record, at 2.35am weighing 5lb15 on christmas morning. My midwife couldnt believe how fast my delivery was as she was my first. I dilated 4cms in only half hour and was only pushing 20mins. I only used gas and air but doubt there would of been time for any other pain relief even if i had wanted it. I got home just 12hours after I went to the hospital, I slept with my baby on the sofa all afternoon while my partner cleaned up. I remember him bringing my presents to me but was that exhausted I couldnt remember what I had been brought. I recently moved house and was wondering where all this stuff came from, luckily my sister-in-law had brought maddison some christmas presents just in case so she wasnt left out.
