I gave birth a month ago today and had a 3rd degree tear. It all seemed to be healing nicely though and I haven't had a lot of pain. I haven't bled loads, and have been in normal sanitary towels for nearly three weeks. Just been to the loo though and there was quite a lot of bright red blood on my pad, then a lot when I wiped and the water in the toilet was very red when I finished. I feel fine, just a bit uncomfy down there but nothing I haven't felt since finishing my lovely painkillers! Is it normal to have increased bleeding on some days? Even a month after? The only thing I can think is when the MW discharged me and did a last check, she said there was a small hole towards the back, but that the skin would grow over. I don't know if she meant a couple of stitches had loosened, i'm not really sure - I didn't ask and she didn't elaborate or seem concerned.
Just wanted to check i'm not about to burst open or anything lovely!!

Mine has been stop start, 6 weeks today and only last few days it's properly slowed down. At times it's been really red. Have you had a look down there? Might be worth asking a mw to check for you.
Totally normal, especially if you have been doing a bit more which often happens around then as you start to feel better.

Thanks both, that's a relief. Yeah I've been quite busy today actually. Plus, this may be coincidence, but I squeezed myself into some pre pregnancy jeans today as well - they used to be my 'fat jeans' now they barely fit, so perhaps I put a bit of pressure on. I haven't had a look, I might see if I can later, or rope in H - lucky guy!

Sounds normal to me. I had heavier bleeding if I'd been out and about doing things. Was a shock to me as was back in and out of hospital (for various reasons) for the first three weeks, so it had slowed right down. As soon as I started feeling better and we got out of the house more it was heavier.
